Im sure some of you football fans have seen this already. This is Terrence Cody...one of the top college D-linemen in the country.........looking absolutely NOT like an elite athlete at 370 pounds.

My question is.......just how good would he have been, or still could be, with the right and proper nutrition?? And just what kind of nutritional program do they have there in Alabama!!?? Granted the best nose tackles are on the very heavy side and it aids to their low center of gravity etc etc, but this is above the norm here!

I think you need to consider what Nose Guard does. Stop the run and take up space and occupy offensive resources. These guys are a big factor in pushing the O-line off the ball. While proper nutrition would certainly help him as a person, I don't see it helping the team. This is one of the things that is sad about college football. Lots of these Linemen who go undrafted can spend several years trying to get themselves healthy again.

man if he lost a whole running back

he could still be a small corner:eek:

You dont see proper nutrition making him faster, more agile and overcoming the biggest obstacle he had all year: Stamina? These qualities would certainly help his team. His stamina issues are making his stock fall like a rock at this point.

I know all to well what the nose tackle does but Cody has actully gotten so big and out of shape that the scouts are downgrading him. Even for a nose tackle this is too much.

Great point about college football...most programs are just looking for their big guys to get bigger. The big ol boys up front develop bad nutrition habits and dont have a clue about what to do post-playing days!

Yeah, you got a point. You do have to be able to move in the NFL, even if you're a nose tackle. I'm a Pats fan but even if I wasn't, I would still put Vince Wilfork at the top of the pack. Beleive it or not big Vince can haul Ass over a short distance. SOmetimes I'm amazed at how fast he can reach the back field and stuff one of the Backs.

We had a guy play nose for us at 405.. his quickness was unbelievable.. those first 2-3 steps through a gap.. I wouldn't rely on him for a pursuit but he was still an incredible athlete for that weight. I actually saw him dunk at 380lb lol

i believe there may be videos around of mark henry dunking with real ease also...he is a heavy dude

My wife graduated with Wilfork. She said he was huge in high school and a nice guy.

I agree this guy is a stud as a lineman, the pro's are going to eat him up, just think of the potential this guy could have if he ate right!

thats a hell of alot of KFC that boy is putting down :rolleyes:

I wonder if Riddell will make some special shoulder pads to accomodate those boobies.....
No worries, when he signs a $50 million contract with a $20 million signing bonus, he can have a dietician cook all his meals, a wardrobe full of tailor made clothing, and Victoria Secret can make him custom frilly lace bra's for those 68 DD

he's not that good, he takes up space. 2 sacks in 3 years???? His production is null unless you look at the 2 blocked field goals that saved alabamas azz early in the season

I mean I think the point being missed here is that if he did eat well, there is no way he'd be able to be anywhere near that size.. sure he'd be able to move a lot better and be quicker, etc. But his big selling point IS his size. Of course, I'm sure his team will refine him a bit.. prob drop SOME fat; but they are going to want a big guy to play DT/Nose, not DE.

I think being consistent at taking up space is a pretty nice asset. If you can tell me that a certain gap will be filled every time and nobody will be coming through there; AND you'll probably be occupying 2 lineman.. that's a pretty good deal for a defensive coordinator. Occupy 2 men, and that's 1 less you have to send on the rush to have a man free.

Absolutely, no doubt, he is over the top out of shape even for nose guards. He is gifted athletically, but that can be overcome by laziness.

With that said I have been amazed at the athleticism of some nose guards. One of my friends was 5 foot ten or eleven and about 275, (this was twenty five years ago) and would lumber down the basketball court, get to the top of the key and just absolutely explode for two or three stops and throw down a monster dunk. He was built like Fat Albert, but was athletic off the charts with flexibilty and explosiveness. No telling what these guys could do "in shape".

yeah no kidding, esp with the blitz schemes in the 3-4 nowadays. mount cody will be a top 10 pick and IMO be another albert haynesworth if he dedicates himself to getting healthier.

I feel bad for him. he has irreversibly damaged his body even with wait loss there's no fixing that mess. those titty's would half to be cut off.

Ouch. Cant imagine he has any cardiovascular abilities at all walking around in that kind of conditioning.

well if he ate right .... he'd prolly play d-end instead of NG. guys job is to fill space, thats the look he needs. on another note, cristian peter, ex-NT, rapist, from the giants trains at my gym ... hes 6'5, 300 with a 6 pack ... 315 BTN for reps ... dumb as a brick, nice guy, and serious athlete.
