is it okay to use dextrose in pre and post-workout drinks. is it safe (i know that it is sugar derived from corn). will it harm my teeth?

i've been using carb powder but my trainer has switched me to dextrose. he feels that i'm getting enough complex carbs in my diet so the dextrose is used as a high glycemic boost before and recovery after supplement. opinions? please email me privately. thanks.
