Nothing wrong with taking regular ala, you only have to use twice as much to get the same effect as r-ala. Btw, most clinicals studies on glucose disposal on pubmed deal with regular ala.
Thats correct if it doesnt list the (R)enantiomer it's most likely a racemic mixture meaning that half of it is (R) & half is the (S) enantiomer so if you take more you get more (R).
