Anxiety is worrying about things in the future; depression is more like bittersweet nostalgia for the past. Practice being in the present moment, down to the very second - you are here; alive, emotionally you cannot even feel bad during that second, it would take more than that to contemplate your emotions.
Obviously the second thing is to practice mindfulness of the content you consume and the way you communicate with yourself. One negative belief or contract with yourself can ruin years of your life.
I don't know you so I can only generalise from my perspective, in my opinion most people care far too much what other people think about what they do or say - truthfully the reality is almost NOBODY on earth gives a single fuck about what you do or say; or how you say it.
A rule of thumb I live by is that, I do not care for your opinion unless I respect you, and respect has to be earned in some way or fashion. This doesn't mean be a dickhead to everybody/the public, you should always be CIVIL - but to take words or actions personally is a dangerous game and you should be very reserved in the act of doing so (If somebody you respect gives their opinion, you may consider agreeing and creating that belief/contract in your mind, if they are somebody you do not respect.... disregard it)
If a person is called stupid from a young age and they believe it, their own mind will create self imposed limitations in order to fit the criteria of 'stupid'. Your job is to filter your emotions to work in your favour.
