I remember after the first few years of A-Rod's career saying that if this guy keeps this up, and as young as he is, he will be by far the most dominant hitter ever to play the game. So far so good, and congrats to him.

On a side note though, as far as pure power, I believe Mark McGwire is the best hitter to play the game. Doesn't he have the highest home run to at-bat ratio? Perfect example of why I say if A-Rod stays healthy.

I believe a guy named Ruth has the highest home run to at bat ratio.

In the old days - arod and junior playing on the same team. that was huge potential. junior has missed over 700 games due to injury. he should be breaking aaron's record today.

True if Griffey could have stayed injury free he was on track to beat it pretty good.....All records are made to be broken.......

Congrats to ARod for sure. Amazing player. I do definitely agree with Bulldog and kend though, if Griffey never got hurt like he did, we wouldnt even be talking about Bonds, because griffey would be blazing past the record. Either way, Griff had still gotta be a Hall of Famer. One of my all time favs along with ARod. Congrats again.
