Attacked by a pit bull

Damn, two weeks in to my first cycle in years and I got attacked by a damn pit bull. Talk about a bloddy damn mess. I'll never look at those things the same way again. - CH

I know we probably have alot of pit lovers here, but I hate them. My brother-in-law had two of them he took everywhere with him and I never trusted the damn things. Didn't like the way they looked at me, like they were trying to stare you down.

Hope you are okay. Did it do much damage?

i totally agree. people act as if the dog will scare people. i had a friend who had a putbull lunge at him. he punched it straight in the nose as it darted towards him... it was a bloody mess, i felt bad for the dog!! haha. i think he broke the dogs snout. those dogs are too vicious. i think that some insurance policys wont sell you a policy if you own a pit. i sure would never have a dog like that...

Shit eh` Sustained any bad injuries ?

I was bitten by a dog once. lost a few kilo's in that period and have nice scar, but I'll get over it.

Hope you did not get bitten to bad. However I would not personally own a pit. I do believe however though that the person raising the dog has a lot to do with how the dog acts. I think they could be just as nice as any other dog if raised correctly. Good luck hope your injury heals quickly. MM

I have had 2 pits and they are great dogs. I gave one two my sister when I came to school and the dog loves everybody.

This is no different then a African American man saying he hates all white people because all of them are snobs or this or that. Yes alot of white people are snobs but most of them dont have much of a choice, it is how they were brought up. Or it is like a white person saying they hate all blacks because they are criminals. It is because a large % of blacks were brought up in that trype of enviroment and it is hard to get out.

Look at the owner and that will tell the whole story, it is how they are rasied.

First of all, sorry to hear about the incident C_Horse.

I totally agree with Weight77. I have a Pitbull. Never thought I'd have one, always didn't trust them. I ended up getting one after my Siberian Huskies died and I couldn't have picked a better dog. My pit is my favorite dog so far. Loyal, loving, awesome with kids. I won't trust him around other dogs because he was beat up a bit by another dog when we first got him. He shows no aggression toward people at all. When people come visit they see this pitbull running at them and it scares the hell out of them. I tell them it's cool and he ends up licking their face off.

My grandparents HATE dogs and ended up falling in love with our pit.

Don't blame the breed because the owners who tend to own these dogs are assholes. The only dog that has ever bit me was a mini Poodle. The only other dogs that I have seen be mean are Golden Retrievers and Dalmations, but I don't judge the breeds because of those few incidents.

I recommend you buy a pitbull from a good breeder. You won't be disappointed and will fall in love with the dog.

bite

got my left forearm going for my throat. clamped on that real good. I took it down to take away leverage and went after its face with my right hand (eyes in particular) I was not expecting this reaction from this dog. It let loose of the left arm and went for right hand/wrist - got decent bite in but no jaw lock there. when I got it off that hand it went for me leg and got a thigh bite in.

It was a rescue dog (everyone said sweetest dog you ever saw) It was trying to jump the fence in my backyard and i grabbed its collar. Never seen so many teeth coming at my face/neck so quick. Nice reaction time on that dog.

I'm fine, lotsa blood and neighborhood trauma though. I think if it had been my kid of wife, there would have been substantial damage. - CH

Nigger Dogs!

Pitbulls are like the niggers of the canine species. Some a cool, most are not, but unlike thier human counterparts its usually had to tell which ones are which given that they dont speak ebonics lol. Personally, Id never get one. I feel its more a game of chance than anything else.

Entity I'm going to pretend that you really didn't write that and that you mis spoke! That is one of the most ignorant things that I've ever heard.

I love my pit and can't wait to get my other one in june. There are some problems with them, but like most said it is how you raise them. There was an article in the paper around here how one recently attacked an infant. The child was in a carrier set on the floor in front of the dog. The child started screaming and crying and it startled the dog and it bit the childs face.

In learning more about this breed of dog, the owner needs to be more responsible than most other pet owners. Because of these types of reactions you should introduce your pit puppy to these things before they become an adult. This helps them to become acclamated to situations as they get older. Mine is almost 6 months and you can tell that some things get her going easy and others are alittle more difficult. Wringers on cell phones still make hear act silly, but she's getting better. I take her to the park often to play with other dogs, to my brothers to play with his dog. My cousins house to play with there small children and what not. You have to put them in as many different environments and situations as you can so they can adjust and learn.

People just have to take the time and work and be patient. Fuck these dogs were originally breed for bull bating. Not there fault if people don't take the time.

Mine is 1 year old. I had my sister's kids over this weekend and they were climbing all over my pit. One of the boys is a little over 1.5 years old and the other kid is a hyper-as-fuck 7-8 years old. They don't even phaze my dog. If he doesn't like what they are doing, he will run away. He lets them climb all over him, pull his tail and such. I intentionally mess with him while he's eating, pull his tail and do those type of things to make sure he's cool with it.

I think a good pitbull always has an even better owner. If you read up on pits, you're never supposed to let them outside, alone and off a chain/ cable. Everytime we let the pup outside he gets put on a 25' cable. He can jump a fence, 6' or higher, no problem.

Again, sorry to hear about the attack C_Horse. Glad you're ok and that your wife/ kids didn't get attacked.

both these comments to me show how people are ignorant towards different backgrounds. everybody has a choice in how they act white or black or what type of enviroment they live in does contribute to a degree but you are not always a product of your enviroment othewise i would be a gang banger in jail right now instead of having a college degree in psychology and socialology.

Animals do not have this option to make choices we do.

that makes sense if your a person ,but im talking about it doesnt make sense if your an animal. with animals you can bring up a dog the right way but there are alot of biological agressive traits in animals that can go off even though you bring the animal up good. i knew a few people who had dogs that after of years of them being nice just turned, out of no were an attacked someone for no appearant reason.

the thing is animals cant communicate when something is really bothering so they may lash out and attack. with a person they have the cognition to communicate a problem or change one without lashing out regardless of how they were raised.

Regardless of its stupidity, I think theres enough truth there to make it at least somewhat valid.

That basically says that pits have a greater predispostion for violent outbursts....now lets be honest, perhaps not all but many of the niggers comming out of the ghetto also have that characteristic.

There is no scientific evidence that supports any of these theories on Pitbulls. They don't "snap" out of the blue, their jaws don't lock and they are actually a great family dog. It's all in how a dog is brought up. Unfortunately, many bad people choose Pitbulls because they look mean.

Ask any true Dog person in the know and they'll tell you the truth about Pitbulls.
