Attempting to get lean... Anyone care to critique what I'm doing?

The best powerlifters rest 5 to 10 minutes to perform one repetition at 100% of their maximum effort.

So you say, but I'm a bodybuilder, well, if you train at 6-10 reps of your max effort, you can't recover properly in less than 2 or 3 minutes.

Can you do a set of 20 reps and come back to do a set of 18 reps after 1 minute rest? Yes. But that's because you're lifting light weights (in fact, weights that you would use in a warm-up set) that don't threaten your physical integrity.

What a bullshit argument from Jay
It's not a bullshit argument from Jay Cutler and nobody said it was. For beginner and intermediate lifters it's easy to get distracted so what he said makes sense. Very advanced bodybuilders shouldn't have that issue because it becomes easier and easier over time to flip the switch when it's time for a hard set.

Regardless of who the message is addressed to, it makes no sense.

If people get lost between sets, they should find another hobby, not train faster.

People that think 1:30 rest is too fast to bulid muscle are in terrible cardiovascular shape

Even a squat
Or deadlift to damn near meeting god….2 minutes later
You should be getting ready for the next
Set.

You need 3 minutes for a leg press set? You better have bands holding plates so they don’t fall off the machine

@danieltx

Im always a little shocked when I give people a plan and they dont understand the cardio aspect of it.
Or even when i hear a person tell me their hardcore gym transformation plan and it is cardio-less.
I mean first of all, there hasnt been a shredded/jacked person on this planet who hasnt liiived on some sort of cardio machine.
There are some out there, but they are genetic anomalies. If you want to be leaner then you've ever been, you have to diet hard then you ever have and do cardio longer than you ever will. You cannot make minimal adjustments and just become jacked. People are just clueless AND most people cannot embrace the least amount of suffering. Time consuming, exhausting anddd long? Oh hell no, the average person doesnt wanna do it.

And you know what the downside to PM is? Is that there's sooo much fuckin info, and good info, and so many smart members, that people really dont wanna learn for themselves. It's easier to just come in and post a thread saying you dont track food and basically eat whatever on the weekends, WHY AM I NOT losing anymore weight? This entire thread is about someone who actually DOES know why his diet is sucking and why he's stalled. Yet we are still spoonfeeding it to him. Stop eating like shit on the weekends, track your food. Do more cardio. The End....he already know this.

What's worse - the completely cluessless client who doesnt know a thinggg Or the one who is self-aware enough to know he/she is giving half-assed effort and cutting corners?
This should be a sticky

Please explain "recover properly" and how it aligns to the goal of building muscle.

The lifting and dieting aspect yes but I don’t see cardio as a necessity for being jacked/shredded
Your first day here and this is your first post. Read more before you say post crazy shit like this.

I don’t see anything crazy about it, cardio is important from a health aspect but you can make dramatic changes in physique easily without it. Want to lose fat quickly? PSMF and high doses. Gain a lot of muscle? Lots of food, gear and lifting. Cardio is merely 10-20% of the equation. Diet is the biggest aspect, enough said.

Tell me how sustainable any of that is without cardiovascular health… lol

Improve your cardiovascular health improve your lifts, BG levels, digestion, increase HGH levels, and keep your heart healthy.

I don’t disagree that it’s a smaller percentage of the equation, but bodybuilding without cardio is just irresponsible and you’re shorting yourself of better results by NOT doing it.

Welcome to PM.

I agree completely, but in terms of just body composition and staying lean, I don’t see cardio as a huge game changer. Read threads where guys prepped with and without cardio, negligible difference. Only thing that changes is the caloric intake. Nevertheless, even with average genetics, most guys can have an impressive physique with gear, lifting and diet dialed in.

This is probably less than ideal but it's the only reasonably recent pic I have. I'm pretty embarrassed with my physique and very rarely take pics.

You will not like my comment, to look like that you don`t need to use any hormones yet. Trian smart, and eat a well balanced diet.

You’ve been on this board for 10 minutes - I could give a fuck what you think is worthy of a sticky.

@bbxtreme handled the rest…

Post a picture showing us the most shredded you've ever been.

I’ve seen your pics at 6% body fat with minimal to no cardio. You’re a perfect example actually of my point, don’t know why you’re disagreeing, but I’ll let that slide.
I didn't say I was disagreeing and I wouldn't call my cardio minimal to none.

Again - post a picture showing us the most shredded you've ever been. This is a hardcore bodybuilding board and if you want credibility you need to post a picture. You don't have to be a mass monster, you don't have to be Munzer shredded, but we do want to see that you're putting in the work.

Again, I couldn’t agree more. With that being said, I would disagree with you in that your cardio during your most recent cut was actually very minimal. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you did maybe 20 to 40 minutes out of the 12 weeks of your aggressive cut. I think we both can agree that your dramatic transformation was largely due to your very low caloric intake.

You started off eating 2000 calories Monday to Friday and by the end of your cut you were eating barely 1200 calories. With that extreme of a deficit I couldn’t see how cardio would be even feasible as a tool. I’m actually on your side when it comes to leveraging diet to get the fastest results.
