You have received good suggestions. I often will go to a bookstore, buy a cup of coffee and "skim" four or five books of the topic I'm interested in and then buy one of the books.
#1 Rule before you buy books: Cut expenses, save money. A dollar saved much more powerful than any advice you will receive. If you cannot save you cannot invest. To replace one saved dollar you would have to earn $1.35 plus depending on your income and the state in which you live.
There is a lot of good FREE personal finance info on the net - just search around (look up "personal finance" "getting out of debt" "emergency fund", etc.).
