How’s it going guys. Weird problem I think I mostly did it to myself by donating too much blood.

My ferritin levels are 21 and the low normal number is 38. However
My hemo /hemocrit are both a touch high. Right outside the normal range. Which is odd because if I donated too much then I would assume my hemo /crit levels would at least be in range... I was dehydrated all day before the test but did infact chug 1 liter of water 20 minutes before the test,

I am experiencing every single side effect of low iron So I’m going to work on fixing that and nooo donating. But I waswondering if anyone experienced this ? Everything else was in range

I am on

100-150mg test per week
240Mg cardizem (calcium channel blocker )**broken link removed**

Bump for visibility

Lemme guess...the MCV is over 100.

RDW > 15.5?

Did you not say your Ferritin was low too?

Take care with the iron, too much can leave you really constipated. Maybe some others have recommendations on what to do with your diet to avoid it.

Did your doc order the CBC blood test as part of a routine annual workup?

If so, he/she probably also ordered serum Iron studies with Ferritin and a complete metabolic panel.

I just recovered from covid. And just went in to this doc so he can be my new GP. He was a previous doc of mine and he is very thorough he ordered the work up and these are the results I couldn’t get through to him about the iron on Friday but I really feel miserable. I want to follow up with him Monday and Tuesday and discuss it further but I cannot handle this for months and months

What were the values for Iron, Iron saturation, TIBC, and Ferritin?

Glad to see you survived Covid-19. Congratulations. Now if you would kindly post your lab results.

yea I do not want to overdue it at all but I cannottt feel like this for a long time. Any suggestions?

How the hell do you all send screenshots like that? It's kinda cool.

If your doc knows an anus from an ulna, then he/she would be inclined to draw blood to check serum levels of folate and cyanocobalamin. Afterwards, replete the iron with this classic protocol:
Week 1 - 1,000 mcg iron dextran IM Qday x 7 days
Week 2 - 1,000 mcg iron dextran IM once
Week 3 - 1,000 mcg iron dextran IM once
Week 4 - 1,000 mcg iron dextran IM once
Week 5 - Recheck Iron studies with ferritin, folate, and B-12.
