Saw this there today. good little movie. lots of stereotypes in it but its kinda... cute i guess?
don't know who the lead actor is but he is a big mofo.

what do you guys think about the movie? -JS

After watching that, I'm just left with a bunch of questions!

Why'd he lie about going out to see a woman?

Why'd he leave the chickies' place?! I don't get it. Was he just embarrassed?

Do all Danish people mix in English phrases into their speech?

What the hell--why does he sleep with his "mum"?

Thats the weirdest part of the movie! His mom was feeling up on him..

I thought it was going to end with his mom disappearing under the covers with a smile on..

mmmm BUAHAHA!

Damn son, I want that 18 minutes of my life back... that flick was less interesting than watching milk curdle. Dude is big everywhere except for the most important part, the balls! With that boring neanderthal presence, what did he expect? I would of most definitely been beatin some guts in a nice 4 sum that night, not sleepin with my mums...

At the end its says his name in the credits, hes Kim Kold

the dud just ate through the hole movie...he looks depressed the hole time.weird flick:eek:

The purpose of some shorts is to raise more questions than answered. I think you can't be a meat head and get this type of art. Raises lots of bodybuilding insecurities, which I'm sure no one wants to explore. Overall, I give it a C. There were some good shots and it did tell a complete story with not alot of dialogue.

p.s. Some people use english phrases, just like we use some latin phrases... not a big question for me, but then I guess I do have a used passport...

Uh, I don't know what I just watched. *LOL*

Read Between the Lines and Subtle Cues...

A short movie like this is when you really need to pay attention to what is said and you can then start to formulate what it is about.

The movie is about the controlling Mom, "emotional incest" and how one try's to deal with it.

1) He MIGHT be depressed, or simply resolved to his miserable life (which I'll get to in a moment). He carries an obvious VERY flat affect which could mean either of the two. There are also degree's of depression such as "functional depression" so he may reside in that category.

2) The Mother gets upset that he is going out. During dinner she say's "You remind me of your Father." She says this at the beginning and the end of the movie.

3) We learn that the Dad walked out on the family.

4) Dennis shares that his Dad was an alcoholic.

5) What has probably happened over the course of a decent amount of time... the marriage was horrible, the Dad left, the Mom began relying and depending on Dennis to be the "man of the house" which eventually evolved into "emotional incest." Dennis is now the husband and the Mom continues to put these guilt trip "jabs" at Dennis to control him so he will never leave her and all loyalty belongs to her alone. The Mom is afraid of being left, alone, so she breaks Dennis down so he'll never leave.

6) What this has done, instead of making Dennis a "man" it has actually de-masculinized him.

7) In order to feel like a "man", he has pursued bodybuilding, the only thing the Mom can't... but tries, to control. His confidence is actually quite low and will do what he can to please others. He didn't drink at the restaurant with the girl, BUT, she didn't ask him to- she just asked WHY he didn't. At the party though, the host HARDLY pushed him and he caved... as well not offering any kind of fight to show off (in the hopes of being accepted). What happened though, he was de-masculinized again and mopes off.

8) What we see is actually a 6'5, 300lb, 30-something boy. This is why he goes to sleep in bed with his Mom at the end. He is still a child.

That is a great view on the film. and i totally agree with you, now that i read it. i didnt totally understand what it was meant to be about, but what youve said makes total sense.

good insight there bro. i think the ending pushed a little hard but it was impactful so it still works.
i thought the shots were chosen and edited very well together too.
of course i wish they owould have used a tripod (shots were handheld and shaky) i think it turned out well. it won an award so it defintely worked. i liked it. -JS
