boosting immune system

does anyone have any suggestions on boosting immune function etc any formulas they swear by and such? just sick of getting so many colds, on my 3rd already! rich.
 
Astralagus
olive leaf extract
vitamin C
injectable b12
sambucus extract(good for flu)
oil of oregeno extract(good for flu)
also mushroom extracts like shiitake and the other one i cant remember name
Also black,green and red tea works great
 
thanks for that i was hopeing for some sort of all in one type solution but i guess its like everything else and requires a bit more work lol. thanks again though for takeing the time.
 
have heard varied opinions on glutamine do you recomend a certain type? i always wonder if other people have immune issues here, dont seem to hear many people having probs, considering training hard and "sups" thought it would be more talked about.
 
nice one cslim thanks for that was meaning to give colostrum a try for a while now, its just so many companies saying there product is so great and if we bought all these sups we would be very broke and busy popping hundreds of pills all day long, but thinking i cant take anymore of this getting sick crap lol
 
am actualy taking echinacea at present and been on it couple weeks but have got another cold, although it does seem to be helping, hard to realy say but i think most of us are pretty intune with are bodys from what we do with training diet and sups etc. just wish these things worked as well as the manufactuers claim. i think a combination like fourthgen said earlier just wish it was cheaper in these hard times! thanks for all the ideas guys.

I am a strong believer in Vitamin C, and when you feel a sickness coming on, triple or even quadruple the dose and watch your colds magically disappear.

I agree with Phil and BrooklynBB. I for sure get sick if I dont get the rest I need or if I get really stressed, and I always take vitamins, like extra C in the Winter. I hope you feel better soon richie34
 
thanks again for everyones ideas,i have had a lot of stress lately and think phil has hit the nail on the head as usual lol, i have a hard time with these things as have couple of autoimune conditions generaly not too bad but this season not going too great nevermind must count blessings, rich.
 
Sambucol (sambucus nigra) extract, take one teaspoon every 1-2.hrs when you feel symptoms of a cold or flu, and you will usually be fine within a day or two. If you do get sick, the severity and duration is drastically dimished.
 
Vitamin D

Lots of Vitamin D, especially if you live in a winter area. Think about how often you get sick in the summer.....not often for most. Then when winter comes along everone gets colds and flu. It has nothing to do with the temperature but think about how low your Vitamin D level gets without the sun. Try cod liver oil.
 
Good advice so far but I thought I would add my two cents as well. Since no one else mentioned it, I have been taking powdered fermented yeast (about a teaspoon a day) mixed in with my morning protein shake. A health nut friend of mine (who's 62 and way healthier than I am) turned me onto this and it's supposed to "balance out " your immune system not "boost" it. Now as far as boosting your immune system during cold or flu season, I would suggest some of the same things mentioned earlier in this thread as well as echinacea or vitamin c with rose hips which are very rich in vitamin c and are supposed to have a sustained release during digestion.
 
Yep i agree with the vitamin C and d. For C i usually take 1000mg 3x daily (time released vit C) and when sick I'll take it 5x per day. For vitamin D I take the carslon 2000iu gels 3x daily and when sick 4x daily
 
Relax when ever possible........dont stress out......tummy breathe.....laugh..........love........take your vitamins

Cause in all seriousness yes, stress is definitely a silent killer.
