Buckwheat Flour, Oat Flour, Barley Flour

I'm thinking of using Buckwheat flour, oat flour, and barley flour in my shakes for variety. I figure organic oat flour is just grinded up organic oats, and it would be easier to mix in a shake. (I dont like using oats in the coffee grinder)

Is there any reason this may not be a good idea? Or any suggestions or thoughts on the matter?

An important question also is that I have heard that Oats cannot be digested without cooking it first.... then I have heard if they are "steamed rolled oats" they can be..

I have also heard the GI # is only slightly altered (powder vs. regular oats)and is not really an issue

Any thoughts on any of this as well?

Thanks in advance!

other than having a shake that texture resembles pancake batter, have at it I guess.

I dont think I've heard of anyone doing this though bro. What is your reason other than not liking to grind oats in your coffee grinder? Why not put the whole oats and blend them with your shake?

Thanks for the reply, thats what I wanted to hear (pros and cons)

I was doing the whole oats and blending them, but figured the variety with buckwheat and barley would be good.

I figured in powder itd mix easier? Sort of like that Optimum Nutrition Oats n' Whey product.

If you blend it from whole, cook your barley 1st - otherwise it is very grainy and gas producing.

Hey thanks for the advice, I'll do that. Do you think Oats should be cooked too for them to digest properly?

Nope - rolled oats &/or oat flour are in many products.
