My boy got a call from the fda.. well they left a message on his machine,should he call them back?he has ordered research supplies before......

if they wanted to search your buddy they would have done so long ago.
They sure would not be giving him a warning to clean up by calling him up.
They have nothing concrete on him, and perhaps want him to incriminate himself

x2, fishing is a good word for it. I had the same thing happen to me but it was actually one of my gym buddies pullin a prank on me. scared the shit out of me until i recognized his voice.

I doubt they would call,,,if they do say nothing. If they really wanted to talk with your friend,, they would have made a personal visit.

he probably was on the list of clients who purchased from someone who got busted.
as someone said, they are fishing for more info on the source.
So clearly,they do not have enough evidence to justify a search warrant, but they are hoping that a phone call + some clever psychology will cause your friend to rat.
Its an obvious and very common tactic used by LE, when they have no proof of you committing anything illegal, but you are suspected of something and might have ties to someone who LE really wants
