I see alot of guys on here separating cardio and weights.

Lately I have been doing 30 min low intense postworkout and Hiit style cardio on off days, but i give 1 day of complete rest.

What are some of your guys first hand experience with post workout cardio or separating cardio and weights on same day?

depends what my short term goals are at that point in time

losing weight because i'm obese....
just living a healthy lifestyle.....
cardio because i herd (its the thing to do).....
already lean.....but trying to get leaner for softball season
doctors orders....
doing a show....
get ripped for the ladies...

way to many factors involved here

haha fair enough

I cycled up to 235 just got done with PCT and got sick during PCT which really sucked so im sitting at like 225lbs ,6`2, age=22, im about 10-15% bodyfat

abs are super close to showing, but still carry alot of fat in my love handles, inside of legs, and ass. I have long legs and wide hips.

Ultimately Id like to be at about 8-10% BF at around 210-215

there is a huge difference between 10 and 15% bf. in fact, i'm about 15% and dieing to get to 10%.

Just wondering why each routine would vary so much? I always try to do 30min post workout after weights.

I was always told to get your heart rate up to 80% of resting max heart rate and do cardio for 30 minutes at least to burn the fat. Some people have said to do interval sprints but I usually just do the former. It's not really rocket science. The key is consistency. Cardio is cardio imo....

Not to be rude by I think most would disagree with your opinion. There are several different ways to do cardio with many different benefits btw them. Also, you'd obviously adjust those types of cardio to reach certain goals. If you're doing cardio "just bc you heard it's healthy" then you probably wouldn't be doing two hours of cardio per day to get ripped for a show.

For fat burning effects at the point in time, fasted cardio in the am btw 120bpm-140bpm for at a minimum of 30 minutes. I normally try to hit 35 minutes then increase upwards over the period of the diet. Once I get over 45 minutes I try to split it into am and PM.

For increased metabolism and fat burning for a longer period of time interval training in the am would be good. I also like intervals in the PM if I'm unable to do cardio fasted in the morning.

Running 15 miles as fast as you can would not be reccomended for bodybuilders trying to hold onto muscle and not be overly catabolic. Once your heart rate gets so high you stop burning glycogen and fat and your body resorts break down of muscle tissue. How many 250lb marathon runners have you seen?

Yeah I know what your saying bro but for the majority of people that work days, morning cardio is not an option. I don't think your going to find a lot of people doing 2 hours of cardio either along with working out (not enough time in scheduel) but I guess it would be different if you were a pro bodybuilder. I was just speaking in general terms for the athlete / non pro bber.

I usually do 30-40 minutes and sometimes up to an hour if I have the time, incorporating several machines.

Not an expert either but the bpm varies according to your age. You have to look at the chart. Some will never get there either if your on bp meds. If your doing weights first you are already burning calories so in most cases you probably don't need any more than 30-40 minutes post workout. They key is getting to the gym 4-5 times a week.

I was doing up to two hours of cardio a day preparing for my show (2 weeks out) and working out as well. I know quite a few other people who have done this also (low intensity). If you're having a hard time getting shredded, it's the only way. You have to make the time. Getting up at 5am and doing cardio til 6am isn't that hard. Doing cardio from 8pm-9pm when you have cardio equipment in your house isn't either. But to get back to the point, there are different requirements for different goals and you basically just made that point yourself by saying it would be different for the avg. gym rat ;)

Right, that's why I gave a range of 120bpm - 140bpm...cause it depends on the person. Again, what's bolded depends completely on the individual and their goals :D

Yeah it does help for sure having your own cardio equipment. I had a recumb. bike and eliptical machine in my old house before I got divorced. No room here now in my little studio apt., LOL. My gym opens at either 6 or 7 a.m. so that's not enough time for me in the morning to get to work at 7:00 a.m. I always preferred going to the gym than my basement. Always fun galking at a little ass, hehe

I do 45 min in the morning on an empty stomach on the ellipitical 6 days a week. Heart rate 135-145. Im down to 230 from 245 in 8 weeks, 20% to about 12%. Then my weight routine at night.

Good job bro. That's about what I was saying and doing it at least 5 times a week. That's the hard part being motivated enough to get to the gym almost every day.

for the last week and a half i hit 5 days of AM fasted cardio, i went to a local sports store n got a cheap(150$) bike, the key for me is to just fucking do it lol
frk

Now when you guys say fasting or empty stomach

is it really? I consider mine empty but i take 1 scoop of NO shotgun, 20grams of protien and 100 calories. I still consider that empty stomach when doing cardio at 6:30 am.

I'm one of those 9-7 office workers. i try to do Cardio in the Morning and weights at night.

For me, yes, it is really empty. 1 tab of Yellow Haze and 16 ounces of water and then onto cardio. I figure even 100 calories is simply 100 extra calories you have to burn through before you burn fat. I follow with 100grams of protein.

For me it's completely empty aside from whatever fat burners plus maybe some coffee. Eating anything, even your 20 grams of protein or the aminos from the no shotgun will spike insulin to some extent thus blunting the fat burning effects.

interesting....

so.you.guys.think.postworkout.and.fasted.am.cardio.are.more.or.less.similiar.in.terms.of.effectiveness?
