YOU NAILED IT ON THE HEAD....After the first couple years of pain management I always just wanted my pain to go away, and found myself on almost triple the dose I am on now. Over the next couple years I worked my dose down. I then learned the trick to this game, it is not "PAIN GO AWAY"...it is "pain management"...I then , over the next couple years, lowered my dose month after month with the help of my doctor and have found a sweet spot of , yes I am still in pain but I can live with it and still function for the most part. The temptation to take more is still there on really bad pain days, but just bite my lip thru it. This was the point of my original question, with the intention of using it only 3-4 days a month for the really bad days when I am stuck in bed or in a recliner.
Brother I been in management pain meds too for about 6 years now. Iam on the same as you. I was supposed to take 1- 3 to 4 times a day. I always took 3 some day I drink and got stupid and went up to 4 most very little few time 5 max. For the last 3 years I been wanting to get off. In that same amount of time I went down to 1 1/2 a day.i break my 10mg ones in half.so 3 halfs through the day
It's not that you are or get addicted to it. What happens after taking it for that long
Your brain gets used to receiving it that your own brain part stops making/releasing it.so when you get of. The brain goes crazy looking for it.until the body starts feeding it again on its own.
At this point you go into withdrawal. Let tell you I'm in the middle of withdrawal as I type this and I'm I. Hell.worse than hell
The tapering really only works if you are in Rehab and they give you other drugs to help.if you do it on your own you will fail 99% ..the feeling of withdrawal is the worse thing you can feel in the world I swear.the taper don't work because once you go below you dose it starts
For instance once I go to 2 half a day
Withdrawal starts
And it's so BAD that you will fail and take more to not feel that way. Trust me man
I just decided just stop 100% I know I was going to be I hell for about a week
But after I have my life back and not depend on opioid for the rest of my life
And my back pain is extremely bad with surgery. But I rather take Ibuprofen 800mg I've noticed that take the pain more than the opioid does.
I'm just telling you this because don't think that you not taking more than the script is you be able to get off without withdrawal
And kratom did help at about 3.5g does but it's also additive and it didn't help my pain and forgot helping with withdrawal. And my kratom was top shell brand not cheap crap
