I love that old school look. They were not as big as most of the guys in todays standards, but they are asthetically (SP) appealing and very healthy looking.

I spoke to Rory about 3 or 4 years ago. we had a mutual friend and he was considering a comeback at the time and wanted me to train him. It was weird cause he was one of my idols growing up and now I was talking to him with intentions of helping him with a show. He was a pretty nice soft spoken guy. Not sure how common knowledge this is, but he had a bout with cancer and as much as I would have liked to help him it just isn't worth it. I'm glad he decided not to compete again.

namely arnold's side chest......samir's lat spread......mentzer's tricep shot.....buchanon's double bi........strydom's hands on thighs most muscular....oliva's victory pose.....ali mala's side chest on the beach.....etc

if bodybuilders of today would preserve and improve on that kind of looks there would been a better commercial aspect , more money , more fans,more movie roles...
its just grew away from anything that attracted all but a small minority of hardcore followers.

Holy crap brian buchanon has the smallest waist ive ever seen. Does anybody know what his waist mesurement was? I prefer the 80s bodybuilder look too its more realistic to what people can achieve than many of todays pros.

PERFECT

That shot of Rory, in my opinion, is just about PERFECT... you have guys with crazy small waists, crazy big legs, etc, etc... but this picture depicts such symetry and "just the right" conditioning... There are MANY physique's I admire, BUT, if I could, THIS is the one I would want to carry around... well, that and the shot of Arnold in skivies in "Commando", EXCELLENT as well
