whats harder on the cns walking long duration slow (2-3mph), or interval training(brisk walk, then sprint)?

i would think the interval training would be harder on the central nervous system. I don't have any facts to back this up, but this is what I believe.

thank you alfresco what im trying to ask is, which type of cardio would cause more fatigue on the cns. Lets say both are burning the same amount of calories per workout, for one to burn those calories walking the workout would be longer than the interval workout would be to burn those same calories. But which type of cardio puts more stress on the cns (both types of cardio would be done daily).

Hey Mikey,
I have read articles that sprinting is more taxing on the CNS than heavy squats. Your best bet is to use both types of cardio to your advantage... Interval cardio can raise your metabolism anywhere from 24 to up to 72 hrs in some instances. I would rotate days, and use HIIT max 4 days a week. I also use body complex's as a form of cardio as well. It breaks the monotony and burns fat as well.

i don't think there is any question, at least in my mind assuming all variables are the same, between which would stress the CNS, the sprinting by far.

have a link to any body complex articles. cardio is where I struggle the most. I get bored with it real fast.

I like Javorek Complexes, just google some of his programs they are free. He goes into deep explanation of the kinesiology, and the differenet methods I believe in his books, but I haven't got an of them. But he does let you in on some of the basic stuff... He also has some videos on youtube.

A lot of people go stale because they get bored. No one says you have to always walk, jog, or sprint during your entire cardio session. Get creative... Sometimes I like to use a wheel barrow and fill it full of sand and race to certain distances. I also chop down trees (forgive environmentalists) and depending on the size of the tree I will either just do that, or chop off a large chunk, and carry it up and down hills. Another example, is pushing a car or maybe even an atv. Of course you will need someone to steer. Or I'll tie a long rope to the front of the atv, and pull it to me (like those strong men competition type challenges), then once it gets to me push it back to its starting point.

It took me a while to get creative, but once Phil Hernon(who I work with) told me to just make the cardio intense and stop over thinking it. I started to think of other ways to do cardio, where I am panting at the end, but I actually enjoy the session.
