When you get hit with either how long do you take of training? How do you change your diet?

I think I am coming down with something. I didn't feel 100% before I went to the gym but figure I would just push myself stupid thing to do on leg day. Anyways after a half ass work out I am shivering and acking. I try never to take longer then 3 days off the gym unless I am dying or have express orders from Dr. not to train. Typical drink more fluids and sleep more. Other then that if I can make it an hour drive and my Mom is in town go there for chicken soup and Mom style TLC. I am a big baby when I am sick.
 
Rest and lots of fluids and food

I am such a germ freak because I hate getting sick. However sometimes it happens no matter how hard I try to avoid others who are sick or washing my hands whenever possible. When it does happen I just take the time off that is necessary to get better. Rest and proper nutrtion will help you recover so much faster than trying to workout around it. Its hard, but you wont lose all those hard earned gains in a few days. Take advantage of this time to just rest and recover.
 
I try and not be stupid about it.

If you're so sick that you can't get outta bed, then don't train. If you feel like shit but can still function - go to work, etc. - then just train with a weight that can be "handled" based on your condition.

The harder problem for me is getting in enough meals when I feel sick.
 
ya just gotta listen to your body

if you just have a runny nose then that is one thing, but if you have a fever, feel weak, puking, etc. then it is best to rest up. you certainly aren't going to build any muscle in that state anyways.
 
I think doing heavy leg press when you have diarrhea is always a good idea. Other than that though, I think if you're sick from the neck up, work out. If you're sick from the neck down, rest.
