Since i got flamed to hell in the doggpound for even askin this (i have no idea why) il repost here. Hopefully i get better more intelligent responses.

There are two methods iv been reading up on that supposedly work in favor to prime your body and set the stage for an explosion in growth. Here is what i know of both of them, im trying to decide which one would be more effective. . .

1. CONTROLLED CATOBOLISM

With this method you basicly create a huge catabolic and depleated state in your body right before you plan to blast off. You overtrain like crazy, deplete glycogen stores, eat very minimal calories (pretty much starve) and basicly run your body down and send catobolism through the roof. This is done 2 weeks precycle. Now when you jump on cycle, you jump on your planned training routine for growth, boost your protein/carbs a ton, and use a heavy oral for the first 2 weeks (the time that your body will best utalize the supercompensation rebound before it catches up and levels out), along with your planned cycle. Its been said "its not uncommon to gain 15-20lbs and increase your strength very drasticly during this period".

2. STRATEGIC DECONDITIONING

Doggcrapp stands by this. Summed up your allowing your body to heal and rest and the muscles to become deconditioned due to lack of stress and workload. You back off training hard, do only straight sets with no forced reps, supersets, negative reps, or any special technique. . .

Both methods are basicly shocking the hell out of the body into growth. Id like to hear more peoples opinions on these two methods and how they compare. Maybe they both have their time and place where they are most effective. If thats the case id think Controlled Catobolism would be best precycle, and Strategic Deconditioning would be best mid cycle (since you dont really wana depleat the hell out of your body mid cycle and lose your hard earned muscle). WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK. AND YES IM ESPECIALLY LOOKING FOR DC'S OUTLOOK ON THIS. I got the Controlled Catobolism method from Ray Bravo for those of you who know of him, im sure a lot of you do.

no seriously even IF this would work slightly better (which I doubt) I don't like the idea of overtraining,..... you feel like crap, you might get sick and you are much more injury prone,..... that doesn't sound worth it to me.

No i dont think ur gonna lose all that much. You will have been "clean" for a few months so you will already not be pushing your limits as far as size and struggling to hold onto it, ur body will have leveled out. During the overtraining period, your not really lifting heavy enough to break down muscle (probably like 50% of the weight ud normally use but high reps), just depleate glycogen stores, kinda like a precontest depletion but more sets. Now your not really STARVING either, just eating a good amount less. Something like 150g protein per day spaced out evenly, 50g-100g carbs per day. Hit your low workout for like 45min-1hr then 30min cardio at a good pace then wait an hour then have some protein and minimal carbs. Your not trying to destroy your body, just depleat it and make it very carb, insulin, and nutrient sensative so when you jump on and quadruple your protein/carb intake, your body is primed to supercompensate along with the increased protein synthesis and boost from jumping on cycle. After 2 weeks your body will have caught up, so you continue on ur normal plan and hold onto the substantial gains you got in the first 2 weeks, and keep slowly building on that for the remainder of your cycle.

heres the reason this subject popped back into my head. I jumped on bodybuilding.com and saw a new article on the exact subject, little more scientificly explained if any1 wants to take the time to read. . .

PLANNED OVERTRAINING

Strategic overtraining is something I have pondered before. Many people often times over train pre-contest even while on loads of gear and once they re-introduce loads of neglected nutrients post-contest and even post cycle they grow and are primed for gains. I have seen friends recover post cycle/post contest w/o ancillaries and just proper nutrition. I wonder what kind of results one would get if they went through a period of "strategic over training" followed by extreme super-compensation (w/o gear) than once the natural compensation plateau's off, then proceed using gear to further gain strength and size. Homeostasis kind of sucks....

I kind of like the idea of controlled catobolism as you could incorporate a lot of cardio too if you wish and "rip up" while you prime your body to grow. Now your startin off with a blast and your already lean.

tp4u like i said on IM.... I dont know about your body but if i were to put my body through all that up and down i would be sick in a heart beat.

Honestly I do something similar to this a lot in the off season, and blow up bigger and bigger time after time. I would say I follow more of periodization system, but it's essential similar in many aspects.

oh yea? mind going into a little more detail?

More than anything I will focus on heavy and light training cycles. During heavy phases I will borderline overtraining constantly. Deadlifting and squatting twice per week HEAVY. (I'm doing this now, but not in the same fashion as off season).

I'll pretty much keep it up until my body says no. Once that happens I'll change around a lot of my movements. More barbell rows for back than deadlifts, dumbell movements, some hammerstrength machines, ect. I'll also reduce my training frequency during these periods. Eventually I'll taper off and won't train for one or two weeks and eat extremely clean during that time period. If all goes well, I'll start it over again.

Not exactly what you're talking about, but it is phases of heavy and light training and heavy and light dieting.

Now if I continue working with Phil through the offseason, this all may just be thrown out the window.
