Pavlov and his dogs was not negative reinforcement. It was classical conditioning. Totally different. As for the rubber band thing, Negative reinforcement such as that has been shown to be ineffective in the long term. Stick with what has been proven to medically work.I smoker 30 plus years ago ,and my old family doc told me a way to get started in quiting .
I know this is going to sound stupid , but it has worked for me and many of my friends.
First get get a rubber band and put it around your wrist and everytime you think of smoking pop yourself , just enough for it to sting a little.
It is negative reinforcement , like Pavlov and his dogs.
In addition everyday take one cigarette outa the pack and through it away.
It is like weaning you off them.
Try it.
It doesn’t cost a thing.
