ok guys i neeeeed to quit smoking, and i would love to hear from ones who have quit, and how they did it. the more support i get the better. thanks
 
Determination

Get your mind resolved to quit. Period. Pick the day and stop. None of that, I'll just taper down crap. Throw away the ash trays and lighters. Stay busy! During those times you crave a smoke, keep your mind distracted and busy. You'll know when those times are likely to pop up so be prepared. Go to the gym, go for a walk, anything to get your mind off the craving. Drink plenty of water to flush as much of the nicotine out of your body you can. First 3 days was rough for me, then it gets a bit easier each day. After a month, I didn't care about smoking anymore. If you fail, don't beat yourself up. Learn why you failed and try again, only smarter this time. It took me 3 attempts. Good luck bro!
 
What he said. Wellbutrin helps tremendously, and it's a great mild antidepressant. I'm getting geared up to quit Skoal, for good, nicotine is a VERY VERY addictive drug...
 
I forgot to add...

…warn your friends/ workmates that you are quitting so they can be prepared for some grumpy times when they are around you for a few days :) Telling others also brings more accountability upon you.
 
For me zyban(welbutrin) and the gum worked great. The gum helped replace the hand mouth habit we form when we smoke. With the welbutrin, Even if i slipped and smoked it would taste nasty, And i would get no pleasurable sensation from it. I smoked for about ten years. It took me about 6 months to quit with nicorette and zyban. It's hard, But it can be done. Alot of it is mental

In addition everyday take one cigarette outa the pack and through it away.
It is like weaning you off them.

Pavlov and his dogs was not negative reinforcement. It was classical conditioning. Totally different. As for the rubber band thing, Negative reinforcement such as that has been shown to be ineffective in the long term. Stick with what has been proven to medically work.

It worked for me and others .

I could argue that point , but what good would it do.
Whatvever the reason this works .
Please just try it .
Give it two weeks.

i went about 4 years ago and received the cold laser therapy for $299 which at the time was about the cost of 2 months of cigarettes for me. I haven't had the urge since. I don't know if its a mindfuck or what but i would almost get sick trying to just have a cigar with friends at parties and stuff.
I can now years later just have a nice flavored cigar or cigarette one night and just not have the urge anymore to keep doing it on a regular basis.
I have found though that i can't keep them in the house or i will indeed smoke them lol

It's supposed to be based on accupuncture points, but using a cathode laser instead of needles. honestly it felt like they just touched places on my neck ears and hands with a cold metal ball and told me i was done in about 2 minutes.
