Cycle length and gain retention

I have read a few different opinions on cycle length. Some suggest many short cycles throughout the year, stating that your body will get back online quicker. I see that others feel that your body needs more time on the juice to get used to being larger so to easier keep new muscle. Since we all do this hoping to retain as much as possible I'd like to know from guys with some time/experience what they feel works better for keeping your muscle. How many cycles per year at what length; two three, four, or a good six month-er per year as I read on another post here. I realize many of you just cruise. That is not what I'm getting into. Thanks fellas.

Is this your first cycle?

A lot of different factors go into designing a cycle. There isn't one set way to do it

me personally i like longer cycles 15-20 weeks. my first cycle was 15 weeks and i loved the results and i kept all my gains. i actaully for some reason got stronger after i was off, could have been that i was also using GH but who knows. ive done about 7 or so long cycles and i feel for me my body responds better to longer ones. imo if your gonna do short cycles you should do prop the whole time for the type of test. if test e, cor sust take about 5 weks to fully kick in and u do a 12 weeks cycle your only getting a few weeks of good solid gains. but your gonna get manu diff resposes, i mean some guys do 6 weeks cycles, and that works for them.

For most bodybuilding goals, if you are in good health, and insure you maintain good health through out. I would prefer to see a low dose, long duration style of cycling. 20+ weeks. Other substances and AA17s can still be cycled in and out, but I think certain base substances should remain through out until PCT is started.

That's two for longer cycles. I'm just coming off of prop that I started on Feb first. I'm thinking that I want to go longer next time, esp. if I will retain more.

I tried both routes and didnt really see any differences in gains made or kept between the two methods. If you do short cycles of say 4-6 weeks, youll need to go significantly higher dose. I saw more health problems from the longer cycles I did. That is one difference I discovered for me. The longer youre on, they higher your hematocrit is going to go up. I also had higher liver values on the longer cycles, even though I was doing a much higher dose in the short cycles. I think if I could go back and do it all over, id stick to short cycles. I also felt like it was easier to get back your own natural test production once you get off a short cycle. YOu dont seem to be shut down as hard, even though you made about the same gains and used higher dose.

Its crazy, but I put on as much strength and mass on some 6 weeks cycles as I did doing 12 weeks plus. I might also add though that doing short cycles is not for beginners, not at all. You need to know what the drugs are going to do to your body before you even take them.

Mal, you said that short cycles are not for beginners. Do you suggest longer lasting, lower dosage cycles for the first couple of years?

Yes, most definitely. YOu have to find out how your body responds to the drugs and in the beginning youll grow on very little. My first cycle was 250 mg test cyp/wk for 12 weeks. I grew very well on that.

Short cycles are for the more experienced person.

My best gain retention has definitely come with longer cycles, 12-16 weeks.

Thanks for the input guys. I would like to hear from some more of you with experience. Also, to those of you that do the long cycles, do you slowly taper off?

I have always liked 12 weeks on and 8 weeks off.

Yep, anything more than 12 weeks for me and I was just maintaining mass any extra weeks like that. So if I tried going 14 weeks id end up making gains the first 10-12 and then after that no growth happens. Then if you want to go more weeks and grow you have to either increase your dose or change something else that is wrong. To me its best to get in fast, grow, and then get out and recover.

Maldorf?

How many years did you lift before you started to consistently use? I am 38 and healthy, what would you recommend for HRT?

Well, I started seriously in 1986 when I was 16 yrs old and didnt use anything really until I was about 29 years old. So I was natural for about 13 years. Im 40 years old now and stopped when I had my heart attack at the age of 38. So I used for about 9 years or so.

If you really need HRT I would tell you to go see and endocrinologist. they will set you up and monitor your blood to make sure youre healthy. My doc didnt try to push the gel on me and I flat out told her I didnt want it. She had no problems starting with test cyp injections. She wanted to start with 200 mg/2 weeks and I asked her to make it 100 mg/wk to keep levels more consistent and she had no problems with that either. I think a lot of the time they do once every 2 weeks becuase guys are pussies when it comes to injecting and dont want to do it once a week!

Im on 120 mg/wk and that puts me at the high normal range of mid 800s total test. Im feeling good as I can with my heart and libido is good.
