I have been dead lifting with a shoulder with stance for about the last 4 years, just recently I was introduced to a wider stance and wider grip btw I don't use snatch grip.

I'm not really sure what to think about it, it's only been 2 workouts but it seems as if I'm using more of my glutes in a wider stance and wider grip.

For building muscle what is the best stance and how far should hands be apart?.

I would just do whatever feels most comfortable to you. I have tried both and always did sumo style, the wider one. I am much stronger at that and its more comfortable. Many other guys cant stand sumo, so its all individual.

depends on which muscle you are trying to target more.
