. The very first rep I heard my supraspinatus TEAR. Fuck my life. I did 4 more reps before realizing that something was seriously wrong. I'm going to the doc tomorrow. How long should I expect to be out?!

I am now trying very hard to listen. That strongman stuff is awesome and one of my best friends got 2nd in the Worlds Strongest Man. He trained so damn hard it killed him. I miss him very much.

Just temper your enthusiasm with a little sanity, Brad.

I hope you heal quickly and fully.

I felt like I was on top of the world and now I feel like I'm back at the bottom of the barrel. I'm taking cissus and glucosamine already so I dont know what else I can do. I guess we'll see what the doc says tomorrow. Any suggestions? im open to anything at this point.

Get the inflammation down...anti-inflamatories...ice....rest it.

It's hard to scale back and be smart, but you sure can push the body beyond it's limits. Something will give, no doubt.

I've hurt my tensor facia lata- hip- squatting heavy too many sessions with out a light one in there once in a while....

Hernia- squatting without a belt, cause I read you don't need one. Fuck that.

Torn bicep- fighting while bouncing...threw a hard upper cut with sore arms...didn't warm up...BAM...it tore.

Various strains and dings.

I hope you are smarter than I was! lol :D

My friend who died was Jesse Marunde. He went to school with Meredith and was our friend. He was a terrific guy. Went to school at Montana State University.

He was still on the team when I first met him. He said, "yeah, football is fun, but I want to be the worlds strongest man." He had freaky grip strength. Just a big strong kid.

B-rad, heal up soon, and drop the weighted pulls up from your exercise routine. Stick to bodyweight. If you are really dedicated to strongman, weighted pulls up willl not make you a better strength athlete and the reward/risk is just to great. Stick to sets of BW-exhaustion.

Great example: powerlifter konstantine konstantiv is 6'4" 265lbs and has the third highest deadlift ever recorded (978lbs) At his stage, he still makes gains by just doing pulls up the old fashioned way ... he bangs out 55 in one clip!
 
Damm bro sorry to hear that. I was looking at your picture the other day and look like u are in pretty good shape right now. Now everything gotta pause cause of a simple mistake suxxx. Hope everything goes well for you.

A great anti-inflamatory that you may want to try Brad is Flex Now..its very good.. I use it from time to time when I have all kinds of aches and pains due to training.
Your situation may be a bit more serious.... however in any case at some point during your period of recuperation, you may want to examine the product further.

Excellent advice. On a personal level, my enthusiasm has been my worse enemy. It has overrided my smart thinking and left me injured. A couple of times, seriously injured.

I hope for the best B~RAD. I have had a partial tear in my supraspinatus and it takes a while to get through it. Use this as a learning experience when you get back to the gym.

Keep us updated on your diagnosis

bro thats pretty insane bodyweight plus 120, goodluck on your recovery.

Injurys really do suck I've only had a couple fairly minor ones.
 
I was doing heavy dumbell overhead pressed yesterday morning and the left one went a bit too far behind the head and I felt some pain in the shoulder. I dropped the dumbell at rep 3, jumped on the tread-climber for 20 minutes and went home. This morning it hurts but not too bad.
I've learned from exp that if something hurts just a bit in the heat of an intense workout, it's more of a problem then you realize.

I watched the strong man the year Him and Pudinowski were going at it!!
That guy was amazing. Super mario he kept calling him
I remember when you invited him over JT and the PrettyBoy from Az Told him he wasnt impressed

WE ARE NOT DOCTORS.........WE ALSO DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED....RELAX AND GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE.....WE CAN ONLY GUESS AT THIS POINT.............GO TO AN ORTHO...THEY ARE MORE INTO WEIGHT LIFTING
 
See a doctor and take it from there. While in recovery of the injury think of it as both a learning experience and a time to bring up lagging body parts.
 
B-RAD, Got to the doctor and let that injury heal. The good news is that you are young and will heal alot faster than us older guys. We all did that when we were young, ignoring the warning signs, and going balls out. I did it too, on a leg press machine, seeing my groin muscle rip like a rubberband. Take care of yourself.
 
just what i thought, small tear. I got a few prescriptions to help with the pain.
