I train at a NYSC and did active yoga today....man. I am doing it cause my range of motion is so so short, I am all bound up and tight its a shame so I decided to do something abou tit. Well it is my 2nd class. Once a week for a hour.
Anyhow I thoght I was pretty strong but carrying your own bodweight on your arms really puts you to the test and holding the pushup position BURNS your tris. It is a hell of a workout, it seems it will really improve on your functional strength.
The strecthing was great. I am going to stick with it until I get results. Alot of guys wouldn't do the class cause they think they would look silly but I don't care about that at all. I am always looking for different ways to train to improve myself and this is one of them.
Give it a try.

I do one of my wife's Yoga DVD's 2-3 times a week and it is awesome for stretching. Some of those moves really kill you too! I never thought it'd be much of a workout, but I usually sweat pretty bad. It def helps with range of motion and tight muscles.
 
I'd say 60% of the stuff I can't do yet cause my range of motion is so limited but I am working on it. It is a tough workout.
 
something i never really thought about doing, and i bet it would help a lot.

truth is we all know the real reason guys do yoga, everyone wants to be able to suck their own dick.. LOL,

AnabolicDragon arent you a BJJ guy? i'm suprised you havent tried it before, really helps out

I wouldn't say a BJJ guy more submission grappler (I hate the gi). Funy you bring that up. I am dusting off my wrestling shoes come next month after only training MAYBE 10 times the last 2 years. I am moving back home and going back to train with this Sambo guy I used to train with. Last he saw me I was 190, LOL. Now I am 230.
I would love to fight again but having a family that shit is WAY on the back burner, it isn't a career for me. If I didn't have a son yeah I would still fight. Shit, I am happy when I can still train in boxing and grappling when I get the chance let alone train for a fight.

I typed my name in yahoo search and foundit in a few fighters databases from fights from '99 and 2000. It wasn't totally right cause it is missing like 4 other fights I had.

Reason I bring that up is cause 2 summers ago I had my class reunion and a guy I was friends with comes up to me and says he did a search on my name and it came up he was like "WHAT??" I started laughing.

Off topic. I am getting back on this summer. I have been off since July last year. I got back up to 230 natural back to benching 440 clean. SO I think gettting to at least 240 to 250 is not asking too much....can't wait. I want 5 plates so bad on bench......
 
Yoga is some crazy shit. I did that and pilates for several months and it help to lead to my best shape ever. However I had to stop and never went back. My chiropractor thought that it added to my tendonitis and brsitis, more than working ot alone. You hold those positions for so long it adds stress to an already injured area. The same as woking out. The downward dog was a great position to sneak a peak at class mates ad teachers, as I was always in the back. LOL There are some great ass's in yoga.:D
