This may sound like a stupid question, but here goes. Is it possible to lose muscle mass if strength is being maintained or even increasing on a cutting diet.
 
IMO, no. If youre increasing strength or maintaining, that usually means the tissue isnt going anywhere...
 
It's possible to a small degree to lose some muscle and gain strength. With the exception of reliable body fat testing (BodPod / Hydrostatic) monitoring strength levels while cutting is one of the best indicators to LBM maintenance. I find overall if you have really good balance with your diet, you should be able to gain strength and lose body fat all the way to the single digits.
