difficulty breathing at night

The last couple of nights I have awoke during deep sleep unable to breathe effectively with heart racing. Of course you kinda of panic in that situation so heart race could be anxiety. Again this afternoon I went to tanning bed, and again got shortness of breath and extreme claustraphobia from not enough air.

I am currently on TestE (500per week) only cycle, and Nolv every other day. I'm 43, good shape and have gained 10 lbs since cycle start (6 weeks). Never issue with allergies, asthma, or other respiratory problem.

Anyone experience this?

Not a doctor but will share my experience. First take some ibuprofen. If that helps, go see a doctor. I woke up almost 4 weeks ago unable to breath. Tightness in my chest about 3/4 of the way into a breath. It got worse when I would lay back or down. Went to the ER. heart rate was 180, bp was like 60/20 or something wacked. Got shipped out by ambulance to another hospital. Less than 12 hours later I almost died. Heart rate was about 140-150 and BP was 40/20. Lights were getting dim, had they not jabbed in some magic juice I wouldn't be typing this. Spent 3 days in cardiac ICU getting all sorts of jabs. It was determined I had paracarditis caused from, of all things, a chest cold. The treatment was ibuprofen, and blood thinners. Turns out when your heart goes that fast it doesn't pump any blood so it sits in your heart and can clot, then causing you to stroke. For 3 days I ran a marathon for 24 hours straight. My rate was usually in the 150's for those three days, dipping into 120's. I had what was called atrial fibrulation which is where the valve of the heart just sputters and doesn't pump. I was pumping 25% of the blood volume going in. Average is 65%.

Bottom line, might wanna go see a doctor. Sudden death has been known to happen from paracarditis.
Also it amazes me the lack of intelligence some Dr's have. They were worried my good cholesterol was 6 and thought I had some tropical disease from being on some island. When I told them I had been using juice they still thought it was from this weird disease. I finally argued with them and explained that my stuff totally wacks your cholesterol levels. Finally the doctor told his team I knew more about what I was taking and its effects then they did.

I have something like that too, although not nearly as bad as you have it

My guess is its something psychological caused by the androgens, more specifically some kind of panic attack

Haven't heard of chest pains from going hypo. Shakes, dizzy and sweats yes. I was running test, tren and t-bol when this happened to me.

thanks for all reply. I took advil today and I got some benidryle for tonight to see if that helps. O\wise I'll sleep standing up and go to the doc tomorrow. I did find some unsettling articles that test supps can lead to sleep apnea.

Thanks again.

My fiance is having problems too. Three nights this week he has woke up because he wasn't breathing. The first night he thought it was his asthma. He was at my house... It kept troubling him, so he went to his truck and got his inhaler, which turned out empty. He ended up going to Walmart at 1:00 in the morning to get some Primatene. It wasn't helping him any. He said ever time he laid back down it would start back up again. By the second night, we decided it must be anxiety attack. Then a couple of nights later it started up again.

When he has worked out this week, he's having shortness of breath especially when lifting heavy poundage. I showed him this thread and now he's thinking it might be obstructive sleep apnea.

Oh, forgot here's the Sleep Apnea

Ok, now my rant... Has he talked to a doctor about this? NO! Why are men so hard headed about going to the doctor!!! UGAAAA!!!

I took Benidril (sp?) last night with meal - sleep like a dog thru the night. Maybe my 1st experience with serious allergy as I live in area with unusually high pollen and mold (2nd worse in country). Took Claritin this AM and also trained OK.

So far so good. Good luck to your and b\f. Keep posted.

tren does that to me. also, anxiety, if your like addicted to pain killers or something. I know one thing, it's not fun!

Bro, Heres my spin

Steroids create alot of water gain and cardiovascular pressures are sometimes increased and this may create a little bit of edema ( leakage you may not be aware of ) into the lung slightly impairing gas exchange ( CO2 out and O2 in. ) It may also cause swelling of the soft tissue of tongue and throat going into you windpipe thus causing you to easily obstruct your airway. Apnea or the stopping of ventilation from the obstructing tongue and soft tissue of the airway when it occurs during sleep is " obstructive sleep apnea " Your problem whether a little edema in the lung or obstructive apnea if it is caused by fluid retention can probably easily get better with the use of something that gets you peeing off the fluid. It may take a couple days but you will offload. Coffee, ephedrine, lasix, most OTC diet pills will all probably get you peeing. If this is the problem, make sure you add some armidex or other drug that keeps water bloat from occuring in your cycle.

It is probably a slight elevation in your arterial CO2 ( carbon dioxide levels ) that is giving you the sensation you describe. Obviously a few slow deep breathes will blow off more CO2 and may eliminate the feeling momentarilly.

None of this takes the place of a physicians help. It is amazing how scary it gets when one gets that feeling and beaware that as frightening as it is, you do not have underlying lung disease. A mild anti anxiety drug will also get you over those episodes, But correcting what you have created may help. It is a side effect of steroids I believe as it is not uncommon to experience these sensations particularly at high doses. Flash pulmonary edema ( sudden and profound flooding of the airsacs of the lugs ) has killed a number of high level, high dosing, bodybuilders.

Just relax ( easier sad then done ) and know which ER you would use if you really do need help.

Boy his brings back a horrorable memmory, I had that happen a few
times late at night. Woke up in the dead of sleep had to run outside
to get air, plus scared the shit out of me. It's been two years and
hasn't happened since. Back then I was on test.

Well Said. I had the same problem and my Dr. explained those exact side effects due to water retention.

What you describe I known as orthopnea (difficulty breathing while laying flat.) Sitting up or leaning on something professorial positioning usually makes this symptom temporarlly subside This may or may not be a serious condition. Are you asthmatic? Has this feeling/sensation ever occurred before? I am not a doc but a student that has 1 1/2 years of respiratory med under my belt. Do your self a favor and see a doctor. Keep in mind, there has been many times when pateints have gone into a doctors office and complained about sismilsr symptom's and the doc's passed it off as anxiety, come to find out the patient was suffering from an aortic aneurysm. This patient was 29 y/o. Not trying to scare you bro. Breathing and heart rate difficulties are NOT to be palyed with or thought to be taken care of holistically.

Please see a Doc!

Thanks for the great info. This has been very helpful!

I had them too for awhile as I actually was hyperventalating....it sucked and cost me alot of money in Dr. bills to tell me I had anxiety issues.....but I needed to go...I felt pretty stupid when the dr. told me that...

I was weighing in the 280's and was too fat and too big......I have since dropped alot of weight and look better and feel great.....I no longer h8ave any breathing issues..

IF the trouble is mostly lying down..

When I went in two months ago and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, I had no pain, the reason I went to the hospital is I couldn't breathe well lying down. Sitting up did not pose a problem. This was due to excessive fluid buildup in the lungs due to excess fluids in the body and the hearts inability to pump all the fluid. My ejection fraction was 15%.

I now use my CPAP for my sleep apnea religoulsy whereas I was hit or miss before and it has made a huge differnence. I am in the process of dieting down from 265 to 215, and hopefully this will reduce the apnea. Sleep apnea can cause a host of heart maladies. On one of the studies done recently in london something like 35% of the congestive heart failure patients had untreated sleep apnea.
