Do deads without straps for forearm strenght?

Really would like to add some power to my grip/forearm and i was thinking of doing deads (I do them via 1RM) Without straps. Would this help increase my forearm strenght?

I would say yes, though you could also do some forearm exersizes, like sometimes when I stick 2 in the from and one in the back. If you do that long wnough it starts to burn! Of course there are others you could do at the gym

Yes, but you can get more strenght to your forearms with the straps becouse you can make more reps and get a dood pump.
If you do exercises for the forearm, maybe you can overtrain your forearms and maybe thats the reason becouse they dont grow.

They grow with back exercises and biceps exercises very good if you dont overtrain.

Here's my take on deads. The heavier you can lift, the bigger the back is gonna get. Since my grip fails "long before" my back fails, I use straps for deads. Believe it or not the forearms are still getting worked.

If I want to work forearms, I'll do specific exercises that target them, not a multi-joint (can't remember the term - duh) exercise.

Fuck straps, use chalk.

(is cursing allowed here? LOL)

i dont see why not, and on the strap issure, i agree that straps def dont do all the work and ur forearms are getting hit hard pulling 600 with straps opposed to 450 without, id say either way ur forearms are lifting about 450 and the extra 150 to account for the 600 is strap related.

if ur goal is more back mass then id use straps if ur grip is a limiting factor but never would i say my max deadlift is 600 if i can only do it with straps

I never do forearm exercises except for hammer curls. My forearm development has never improved so much since I started doing deads and shrugs without straps. All I use strap for now is my last set of shrugs, because I can add 100 lbs and still get 10 reps. Highly recommend chalk for deads.

Like Magoo said, if I can't lift a weight without straps, I don't quote it as a max poundage.

One more thing: if I do any extra forearms exercises, they overtrain in no time and it spills over into biceps tendonitis. This is what I base all my training recommendations on, for others.

Damn Xcel-thats EXACTLY my feeling on that too.
Why sacrifice the growth/strength potential of such a
basic exercise just to increase forearm strength? BTW-
'Compound movements' the term youre looking for?!? hehe
