Does anyone have experience with using the anti- depressive Cymbalta?
My wife was in a car accident 1½ yrs ago and broke her back in two places; she was very lucky just being alive as there were nothing left of her car!
6 months after the accident she still had a lot of problems with pain in her back so she was put on Cymbalta(not for it’s anti- depressive functions, it’s suppose to help with extreme pain.) Cymbalta took some of her pain away but about 3 months into her medication she started to gain fat and she was holding a lot of water all over her body.
She used to compete in figure and have always been in really good condition. She was able to start her cardio and weightlifting only 4 weeks after her accident and have been keeping her diet, weight lifting and cardio exactly the same during this whole period, only new factor is Cymbalta! She stayed on for 8 months but her symptoms (fat gain, holding water) were getting worse so she stopped taking it.
It’s now been 6 weeks since she dropped it and still no changes in her body composition. I wonder if anyone has any experience with Cymbalta? TSH, T3 and T4 are all within normal ranges so I suspect that Cymbalta has screwed up her hormonal system, maybe the estrogen/progesterone ratios? Does anyone know what tests should be done and what the “normal” values for a girl should be?
I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out in this matter!
