I hate to flame a guy, but i was on bb.com ( ) and i came across this guy:

**broken link removed**

to me, he looks too skinny to be on stage.. is it just me?

Well I'm not gonna judge, but it's nice to know I'm bigger than an actual bodybuilder. :D

I agree with you bro. He's tiny. He needs to obviously eat more and put on more muscle.

Got to start somewhere I guess. He is really skinny though. He is only 17 and seems to have a passion for the sport.....I am sure he'll fill out:D

I have a protege who's 6'2 250 right now 12% bf who would blow this kid out of the water and make him look like a joke. Watch out because if he decides to compete next year at the teen nats, he could take take 1st place. He's only 17 btw.

well...he is only 17 and only been training for 1 year. I can say that from experience in teen divisions, the more shredded you are, the better chance you have at winning. And if you are a natural teen, then usually when you are shredded you arent able to hold on to as much muscle. (some are ginetic freaks though). So for him to compete in the teen division i think he is fine. Heck he has another 2-3 years to add size until he has to step in with the big boys. But for him to be competing with the big boys right now...he is not near ready.

Just by the looks of him he doesn't have the genetics to win the big shows. Maybe the local shows at his state but that's it. He looks like an ecto.

Hmm. interesting. The part about condition being more important than overall size for juniors. I dunno if you saw a picture of my buddy steven, in the members photos forum.. but hes 17, and thinking about doing a show. I think if he got into condition, he would come in looking better than this guy.

Guys, it's about both size and conditioning that determines who wins these teen shows. That kid just flat out doesn't have the size and I doubt he ever will. Genetics plays a huge role in this as well.

Im wondering why he used so much oil! :p

I think its pretty obsurd to say that the kid has bad genetics when hes only 17 though. At that age its pretty much impossible to tell how much muscle he can put on.

Not really. My protege is 17 and he's got 18 inch arms already. He's trained for 4 years and he gained 100 pounds but he had to go cut and got himself down to 10% bf and is currently bulking so at 12% bf. Sorry bro, but this kid has nothing on my protege. He's actually got some freaky genetics and is endo/meso.

it seems though from what ive seen that the teens that have more muscle mass tend to have that " theres no way i could cut down to 170 when i weigh 210" mentality, leaving the guys that are already naturally lean able to lose 10-15 lbs and be ready for a show.

Your Protege could do some major damage at the teens.......IF.... he can put away that big man mentalitly and get shredded.

From experience i was 19 years old, I did Two shows. And i was the "Big Teen" at 216 lbs 6'3. (at least out of the competitors at the time for teenagers)
-My first show i won because i was the biggest and the leanest, and of course anyone in any division is gonna win if they are the biggest and the leanest.
-My second show however, due to a guy trying to carb me up a different way(i didnt look bad, but i definitely wasnt as defined as the first show, i held water, etc, etc.) i lost too a guy that was about 160 lbs, and a little leaner then i was. he was bout 5'10 or 5'11.

This is why if your a teen and have some mass, then congrats, cuz most teens that try to compete are just kinda skinny and just usually get cut up. So if you got the mass and get ripped, then you will be one tough cat to beat!

Exactly bro. He's actually gonna work with Dave Palumbo for his pre contest. If he gets his conditioning down his chances of winning are very good. Also, he plans on being 240-250 contest weight next year which would be big for any teen his height.

Awesome. I believe with dave helping him, he will be shredded! Keep me updated. where are his pics under? can you shoot me a link?

Personally, I think it's awesome that this kid found something besides sitting in front of the television or stealing my car that he has a passion for. I have never been on stage, but I truly admire those willing to go through the precontest prep and actually get out there and do it. Without young kids like this, the sport will go nowhere. Good for this kid.

yes

yes he belongs on the stage in a teen class. there is no minimum reqirement for lean mass. he will be very good when he fills out in his mid 20's from what i can see.

I'm not sure if he belongs there just yet, but he gets up there onstage, which is a good sign. Yeah, there are many kids who are who are way bigger and ripped, but they lack the motivation or guts to step onstage.

(A lot of kids involved in MMA, high-school heavyweight or middleweight wrestlers or Track and Field sprinters and throwers, college freshman decathletes).

But I gotta admire the fact that he's 17 and already breaking into fitness modeling. IMO, using your body to make a living as some Bro's on here do, is one of the toughest ways to go! Plus, this kid must be cleaning up in the 17 year old girl arena!

I dunno if he'll ever be massive, but he may get to do what he loves for a living. Skinny, yeah! But he's doing good!

Don't laugh. Wait and see what this kid looks like in about 5 years or so.

He's tiny now but he hasn't even begun to grow. Plus he obviously has a high level of dedication or he wouldn't be in that position.

I just don't like seeing kids at that age do allot of contest dieting. I think it's counterproductive. A kid like that should just concentrate on growing like a weed and not worry about contest body fat levels. That would be my only feedback.

He is only 17 guys everytime he steps on stage he learns more about his body. This is a mans sport and think its good to see kids at that age with the deadication to stick to a proper nutritional and training program. Everyone has to start somewere.
