Eating less often to slow metabolism?

I thought eating smaller meals instead of 3 big ones only slightly raises your metabolism, 10%.

Couldn't agree more!!
 
All I know is that this guy(James Henderson) was around 6'5" and all of 400lbs. He wasn't a big fat guy either. When he layed on the bench his damn shoulders almost touched the uprights. And a 600lb barbell literally looked liked it was made of tinker toys. We talked about gaining weight and how he did it and it was pretty simple. When he wanted to gain weight he ate 3 huge meals and maybe one snack per day. When he wanted to drop weight he reduced cals a bit but broke it up into 6 meals per day. It has worked for me and several other people I know.

His other advice to me was to cleanse your colon. Keep the fiber intake up so that everything moves thru you nice and smooth. I'm pretty consistent in getting 25-30 grams of fiber in my diet daily.

WTF????????

This WHOLE time i been thinking i need multiple meals and fighting to do it! 3 big meals? HELL YEA!!!!!! If thats what really works im excited! I can eat ENORMOUS meals if im only eating 3-4 times per day! Here is a typical day for me when im being lazy (cuz i THOUGHT i needed multiple meals, but theyr all about 4hrs apart i was under the impression thats too long without nutrients)!!!!

Wake - protein shake shower drive 45min to work
Breakfast - 10 egg whites, 2 whole, 4 pieces pork roll.. on 2 bagels with ketchup and 2 glasses OJ.. then maybe some protein bars
Lunch - 3 big macs, large fries, large coke, mcflurry (like 2.5k calories haha)
Gym - PWO shake normal
HUGE PWO meal 1hr later
HUGE Meal before bed
 
if you are a bodybuilder and have the least bit of concern about your waist line you are going to increase it dramitically eating 3 huge meals a day

again, what is the goal here? is it size? or LBM?

if you ask any pro or top amature bodybuilder what is better for putting on muscle in the off season i gaurentee you they will say 6 meals over 3... its for a reason...

o.k. how much protein can your body handle in 1 sitting? 50-75 grams... do the math folks, thats a whopping 150-200 grams of protein you are getting in a day! am i making any sense? not to mention the crazy insulin levels and increased chance of being diabetic you will get!

do you enjoy feeling extremly bloated 3x a day? probably not.... do you enjoy bending down to tie your shoes without throwing up?

how much clean food can you eat in 1 sitting? for me its not a lot... It takes a few over the day... if you are eating 3x a day you will probably rely mostly on unhealthy food that is full of (bad) fat.... not exactly what you want to feed a body that is starving for nutrients to grow....
 
I'm a powerlifter so a small waist is not a concern for me. The added girth in the midsection gives added leverage in the squat. I didn't mention PWO nutrition, I just took it for granted that people had some kind of shake after training. My health is excellent and there are no signs of diabetes currently or in my future. I've been power eating for a long time and can knock down alot of high quality food in one sitting. It all comes down to the individual and a ton of experimentation to see what works and what doesn't. If it ain't workin', shit can it and try something else. Too many people flog a dead horse for far too long.

I get gas when I get that much fiber. Not really comfortable with that side effects.

I'll have to agree with you on all that. Plus, even when I eat multiple meals, I can only get in so much before I cant eat anymore. So eating 3 big meals per day would be same as me eating multiple meals since I can only fit so much into my stomach. Plus, eating so much at one time will give you nothing but a shit load of gas. And if you're at work or school, that'll be very uncomfortable.
