Pulled this off another board. Sadly I dont think this is just another rumor.

Erik “The Viking” Fromm… found dead at age 36

Posted in News on February 5th, 2008 with No Comments »

I received a call this morning from Erik Fromm’s sister, Dianna, informing me of the unfortunate news. Erik “The Viking” Fromm was found dead at his Wisconsin home last night. The cause of death has not been determined. Dianna said she would pass along more details as they became available. At the time of of conversation she believed Erik would be cremated as, “he never stayed in one place for every long”. His mother currently lives in Wyoming and his sister in Montana.

Erik was a consistent top 10 NPC Super-Heavyweight Bodybuilder. The 2004 NPC Nationals would be the last time he took the stage.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Fromm family.

RIP Erik

RIP Erik...

what the hell has been going on lately?? doesn't it seem as though the community here has had an abnormally high amount of deaths???

Very sad news.Everytime I saw him he was always having fun.
Always brought it when he came to the stage. He will be missed.

This is crazy stuff. Been a very tough year for wrestlers and bb's.

God Bless, Erik Fromm

anyone know cause of death yet? not sure but i think i remember reading he was heavy with recs/nubain? may not be him though, i hope not
condolences to his family

Hope it's just a rumor. :(

I searched around the web for about 10 minutes and cant find anything... except that he lives in Denver CO.

Probably some asshole trying to bum everyone out.

no, erik is dead.. in recent years he was very into everything from E to painkillers ect.. he lived a "rock star" life from what many say.. he also was getting into other rec's very heavy.. stopped training much ect ect.. an old workout partner on another board stated that he was going down hill fast in the last year and just couldnt stop.. goty involved with a girl that was into heavy meth use ect ect.. sad.. :(

Is this the new trend? Bodybuilders, recs and steroids; all associated.

Whatever happen to bodybuilding as a lifestyle of good, clean, healthy living. Eating right and living for life.

I remember when I saw his pic in MM as a rising star; pretty impressive indeed.

R.I.P. young one.

I started bodybuilding to get off drugs, not to get on them. How the hell do you become a bodybuilder while being heavy into drug use. I guess they don't start the drug addiction until AFTER they become bodybuilders. You know how much muscle you lose after one night of not eating not sleeping and consuming nothing but coke and alcohol. It's unreal how easily those hard earned gains become very easily inadvertently earned losses.

Anyhow...RIP

SAD news and sorry to hear.

rec drugs and bodybuilding are often related

I remember a few years ago here we had this discussion too, asking why it was so often related ...

I guess the psychological state that lead us to look the way we look may drive some of us into drugs .... there must be a reason cause it's ABSOLUTELY not the first time that this kind of shit happens

RIP Erik :(

Back in 2000 or 2001 when I was a student in Switzerland, I bought my very first English written BB mag... it was the summer edition of MuscleMagIntl and Erik, along with Dexter Jackson, was featured in one of those MuscleTech adds, something like "Ripped for the beach in six weeks" :p

I will never forget the state of shock I found myself in staring at those freaks  ... what a change it was from the local mags with regional athletes  My passion for BB really took off once I had been done reading METICULOUSLY for several times each and every page of that damn copy!!!

May you rest in peace, Erik.

Damn, what a shame. he had so much potential. Why is there this urge to use rec drugs when we all know what they will do to a person??? I just don't understand it. I can go out all night and not get drunk, not take drugs and have a great time!! Oh well, another brother down!:(

Sorry to hear this and my prayers go out to Erik's family.
RIP bro!!

I really hate hearing these stories.

That's why I was so bummed to hear about Lee Priest.......thank heavens that turned out to be not true.

This story about Eric Fromm...I hope that one isn't true too. If it is true, I don't know why folks always try to alter their state of mind. I've never had sex under the influence of alcohol for example. I'd hate to ruin it. I want to be there mentally as well as physically.

Same thing with a nice evening- the sound of crickets, moonlight and the sound of the river flowing by.......I don't want to be blinded out of my mind and miss one second of those things.

Why not experience life? I don't get it.:(

In my first contest ever Mr. wyoming me and him were in the teen division. He won the whole fucking show! I remember looking at him and thinking what the fuck did I do wrong!

I'm gonna try to find some of those pics....see if I can't scan um in....they are classic.

Really sad to hear.

you have to factor in friends... if he hangs out with the wrong crowd, and he gives in... that's it.
that's how most people get hooked. You can sometimes hang out with a real great, smart, and funny dude... who seems like he has a nice life... then you catch him doing coke or heroin and he tells you that he's been doing it for years "wanna take a hit?" ... in the back of someone's mind, there might be a voice saying "well, if he's doing it and he's fine... you're much healthier than he is... i'm sure nothing will happen"...
I don't know... since i've never been involved with rec drugs... but that's how a lot of my friends got hooked (not on coke or meth... but marijuana and alcohol)

May he rest in peace

This is horrible news and my heart goes out to his family and friends.

Just very sad. The most I can do is direct the younger guys I interact with at my gym who like to train hard and show them that Erik's death, although tragic, is an example for these otherwise smart hard-heads who have genetic gifts for building muscle to avoid giving into the party lifestyle and remind them that bodybuilding is about health, muscle and hard work and has nothing to do with the quick hit.
