Sherdog just reported that Josh Barnett will not be fighting in Affliction Trilogy due to a positive test....Belfort is a possible replacement(which in interesting being the fact that he now fights at 185, two weight classes lower then heavy)

WOW ...that sucks!

IF THIS IS TRUE -This will be Affliction's last show. This was the fight they were touting as "the best fight in history" blahblah. And the card is pretty stacked... but without the big time fight, this will be a huge blow to the event. I'd rather see alot of these guys in the UFC or DREAM anyway... better matchups. Either way, this sucks because we won't get to see a good fight and it sucks for Affliction because they won't be able to outperform their previous events - which they have said in recent interviews will lead to this being their last show.

That being said, you cannot trust everything you read. Especially considering SHERDOG is the only source to be saying this... Look at the Kimo story recently. Turns out to be bullshit that the man was dead. So lets wait and see... I honestly have a feeling either way this will be Affliction's last show. I don't think they are selling more PPVs than their first two shows, but who knows.

Good points. Alot of rumors saying depending on the results of te show, it may have been Affliction's last anyway. Definitely paves the way for some good fighters to go to the UFC.

I would think a Bobby Lashley vs. Fedor fight (mentioned in the Sherdog article, again, possible rumor) would be a better fight as far as press/promotional possibilities.

Here's the story on MMA Fighting.com

**broken link removed**

haven't seen anything regarding what the substance was. Of course he is screaming innocence just like he did when he got busted in the UFC which ultimately led to his premature dismissal. If he had just played polotics, sucked it up and did what ufc was forced to do with him, rehab, etc.... he would probably be a top heavyweight in the ufc today.

i don't think that lashley vs fedor would be in the best interest of either fighter right now, or the org in general seeing as if lashley wins, he will have beaten the best fighter possibly ever and will be thrown to the wolves before he is ready, but if fedor wins, everyone will say that he just beat another can like usual. its also hard to hype up a guy who has 3 fights (i think).

i saw the article, i think they removed it when they found out that it wasn't true.

stupid Barnett. goodbye Affliction...

supposedly (I read) lashley turned down the fight (smart move on his part)...and Vitor Belfort was also asked and is considering it. However he was scheduled to fight at 185, so that's quite a big weight difference considering he might walk in the ring at 200'ish...and Fedor weighs what, 230-240?

I don't like the monopoly that UFC has, and wanted Affliction to succeed, but it looks as thought Fedor might have to go to UFC...which I would love to see him tap out Lesner!

Ahh jesus... what did barnett test positive for? They said non-descriptively "performance enhancing drugs..." And what in the hell is going to happen to fedor? He should've been in the UFC a long time ago. I hope to god that he doesn't sign with DREAM. He needs to come to the UFC, win or lose. These 2nd rate organizations he's been fighting for are not allowing him to fight real competition, and I'm fedor's biggest fan. He needs to get out of affliction and get out quick.

I like having several organizations but it will eventually be the UFC and some small organizations (sort of like a farm league/minor league). Maybe some of the foreign leagues will stick around, but the UFC is trying very hard to be very international.

Just found this:

Josh Barnett Tests Positive for Anabolic Steroid Drostanolone

why'd barnett take it if he knew he was getting tested? drostanalone proprionate (masteron) is a prop ester, and I think it'd be out of his system quick (but don't quote me on that)... I thought they had knowledgeable trainers who kept them up to date on what to take and how to take it so that they don't get busted. Fool

Thats just ruined my day. I was looking forward to this one.

Looks like Vitor will be taking Barnett's place...hmmmmmm:rolleyes:

Very disappointing news. This was one of the few people I believe would have made for a competitive fight with Fedor.

Fedor knocked the shit out of Sylvia and Arlovski, both of whom were the UFCs top heavyweights for years. Neither lasted a round.

He won't go to the UFC for a reason, and that is Dana White and the UFC are exploiting and making a killing off their fighters like no other organization in history.
You ever see what they get paid compared to boxers?
I think Lesnar made 500k his last fight, not bad, but considering big name boxers make 10s of millions per fight..... and UFC PPVs are comparible...
Somebodys making a lot of cash.

I know, believe me. Fedor has fought top fighters and should be more credited than people like coutoure and other notable heavyweights from the ufc. It's just that I don't see him facing anyone halfway decent with affliction, now. I should have clarified in my original post that he HAS fought top level people, but now, it doesn't look like he's going to see anyone good. You're definitely right about the salary issue and exploitation of fighters by the UFC. Dana White is a sack of shit if I've ever seen one. That guy is such a putz it's not even funny.

I read Lesnar made 500,000 for the fight.....not including any other incentives. Like the 3 million from his % of the pay per view money. :D Some of the guys are making more than you think.
