Fights last night--Pac/Cotto and Couture/Vera

Ok...so who watched either of these......What did you guys think?

Dont watch boxing, but I agree that Randy won the fight, but for once I was not inpressed by Randy. He knew it was a boring fight, but O'well I guess you do what you gotta do to win. Im suprised at Hardy winning, and Im actually really impressed by Bisping. I thought he didnt have a chance in hell against Kang. I give the card a C+, wasnt really happy with it, and glad it was free.

Not to take anything against his win...but...Yes I didn't think the Couture fight was very exciting at all.

I too felt randy won, but by a small margin. I am very surprised with vera..it was a great battle..boring but great. They played chess the entire time. I was surprised how vocal joe rogan was after that fight. i have never seen him so vocal about a decision before. I was very impressed with dan hardy..very powerful guy, and strong punching. He should have finished swick. I am a fan of swick, but his punches were weak, and i think he was fighting scared. If swick was 100% for this fight, then hardy is the real deal. I dont think he deserves a title shot yet, but o well. i think he should fight alves,johnson,koschek. Hardy is not ready for pierre, but who really is. I really didnt think that kang had a chance against bisping. I dont care for bisping..but i have to give him his due..he is one of the top guys in the division. Kang is a legit bjj black belt, and bisping really defended awsome.Brown looked really good, even after almost getting caught in that kimura.

pacquiao destroyed cotto, and made cotto's hits look like he was being hit with pillows.

I thought cotto's body shots were hurting pacman, but he was taking them while he was taking a breather on the ropes then went for his offensive again and man handled cotto.

Good fight, but I expected more from cotto.

Maybe it was his coaching...

yeah-i thought cotto would definitly have done better than he did! they need to put pac vs maywheather fight together next!

Either that or Pacquiao is just that good

....he couldn't hurt Pac at all, that's why Pac did the rope-a-dope every once in a while.

The UFC fights sucked....Vera once again like always gassed out, the dude must be overtraining...he gasses too easily.

and Hardy is gonna stomp GSP..

everyone always says that. and everyones always wrong. Alves is twice the striker that Hardy is. GSP will take hardy down a thousand times and punch his face in. Of course hardy has a punchers chance but i dont believe GSP will allow that after the serra incident.

SORRY.. but if hardy could not put away vera when he had him hurt twice he is not going to do anything to gsp.. gsp is on a different level than those guys.. hardy was having a hard time taking vera down.. ever see gsp not get someone down? he made easy work of all his opponents taking them down.. hardy is way out classed..

Hardy never tried to take down Vera.......he tried to take down Swick though......

The feeling among my friends and I are similiar to what Pac's camp said. Mayweather does not want to risk that perfect record against a real challenge. He has not figured Pac out yet and probably will not. Mayweather and Pac would be a great fight and bring in HUGE cash for the big baby Mayweather, but he won't take that fight and is probably praying that Pac will lose a fight soon or everyone from espn to his crew will start pressing him like wtf you scared mayweather?

Not saying Mayweather will win or lose but i believe he is very nervous about this fight.

You do not gas out from overtraining -- not when it comes to conditioning, it comes from not training enough. Some guys think they are training enough, or even overtraining, and then they get into the fight and gas. I remember when I was in Phoenix to fight on a Frank Shamrock card, and I talked with Frank for a long time on this very subject because he has EXCELLENT cardio. It takes him awhile to tire, (at least back then it did) and my former roomate Josh Thompson used to tell me about the way he trained. I thought that me and the team I was on trained hard until I heard what he did. Josh fought with Frank for awhile in San Jose.

As for the comment about GSP -- are you serious? Just like Lats said, its been said before but it never happens. GSP even whooped BJ Penns' ass, and he was supposed to be the creme de la creme. Instead of predicting GSP to lose (I guess some ppl really want to see a champ lose his crown) you should pick him to win -- the logical choice. He has no weakness so for him to lose it is going to come down to a mistake he makes, and he seldom makes mistakes...maybe once or twice in any given fight if that. So his opponent would have to seize that moment to capitalize and go for a win. That is why when you get to that level it becomes a chess match. Good luck to anyone having to fight him. I know that a lot of his opponents watch his fights over and over, looking for tendencies, follow-ups, combinations, etc AND still when it is fight time get lost in the heat of battle. Right now as it stands the only person that is going to beat GSP IS GSP.

vera won in my opinion

why should you get points for controlling your opponent by holding him up against the cage for 90% of the fight. that ref should have separated them much more frequently than he did. vera landed some vicious kicks that nearly crumpled couture to the floor. given the opportunity with more frequent separations by the ref vera would have easily beaten couture with his stand-up.

fortunately for coture..the clinch is a big part of the game. Is not a real fight i my opinion if the ref keeps breaking it. Let it go...this is what these guys train for
