Flax Seed Oil Supplementation: Oil vs. Softgels

i want to start supplementing with flax seed oil, and have been shopping around... most articles seem to recommend the oil over the stuff that has been put into softgels.

is there a significant difference between the two with regards to quality?

I really can't comment on quality as I am not sure which is better oil or softgel, but I know that with taking the oil form you can get a higher concentration of it per tablespoon rather than taking a tablespoon equivalent of softgels.

You are welcome man, I can say that I have been using EFA oil, and MCT oil in combination with proper nutrition, consistent hard training, and proper "smart" supplementation that it has helped considerably keep the size and strength I have gained the last two years. I really believe taking these oils can only help you, IMO.
 
yeah man, i am looking to overhaul my diet, and that will inculde eliminating tuna for a while. i can't hardly get it down the hatch any more. just wanted something to ensure i'm getting my EFAs.

i eat alot of raw olive oil too, but i am getting sick of it.

i ended up getting the oil and the caps, so i could have some to keep at work.
 
I've been on a CKD and really lacking in fiber. I started using milled flax, which not only has the benefits of the oil but also a ton of "good" fiber. Less than $3 a bag. Make sure you keep it stored in the fridge (should also be in refrigerated section at health food store).

Well, I am no diet guru or anything but I take my oils right before I go to bed and depending on where I am at with my diet I usually take them and drink a rpotien shake to have something in my stomach while I sleep, keeps me from getting up and eating something shitty in the middle of the night which I am notorious for! lol!! good luck with everything man.
 
another idea

I have been buying the raw flax seed and grinding it in a coffee grinder and putting it in my protien shakes, I read somewhere that this is the most effective way too ensure you get all the nutrients

That's what milled fax is :p :eek: ;)
 
flax oil

phreak.....I really dont see a difference from the 2,(caps-liquid), I use the liquid form and add to my protein drink.The gel caps come as high as 1000mg,and liquid form you can almost double that with a tablespoon,I guess it just depends on your schedule,I wouldnt get to hung up on the whole cap-liquid thing,Just make sure you buy a quality brand.I have been a reading book "Fats that Heal-Fats that kill" Author is Udo Erasmus,it is an excellent read on the subject
