It seems when looking through diets on this forum, most people either use flax oil OR extra virgin olive oil in their diets. However, I have been unable to find WHY people use one or the other, so...

Which do you use?
Why do you use that one, instead of the other?
How much per day do you try to get?

EDIT: If you do use both, what ratio do you use them (ie 3tbsFlax, 1tbspOlive would be something like 3f:1o)?

I use them both.
 
Flax has Omega 3's and Olive has Omega 6's. For this reason many tell you to use these two oils together. I used to drink a lot of flax oil, until Phil told me to stick to olive oil and fish oil. I then did a little research and discovered that flax oil must be converted to human 22 carbon Omega 3 very inefeciently. About 3% of it gets converted. The remaining 97% ends up going right through you, which is why flax oil is also a good laxative. Flax oil contains plant ALA which must be broken down into EPA and DHA. Fish oil is already made up of EPA and DHA. Its the DHA that has the most cardiovascular benefit. So, I say go with Olive oil for Omega 6 and go with Fish oil for your Omega 3.

Anyone have a specific fish oil brand they recommend? I just got 24oz of NOW Flax Seed Oil in the mail today so littlemack ur killin me here:D

1 Tbsp
Total Fat: 14g
Sat. Fat: 1g
Poly: 10g
Mono: 2.5g

Breakdown:
Omega-3 7.7g
Omega-6 2.0g
Omega-9 2.7g
Other(saturated) 1.6g

Sorry man. Isn't that stuff expensive? Holy cow its high. I used to pay like $35 a bottle for that stuff. Dr. Barry Sears fish oil. Its in capsules and isn't cheap, but its the best Phil tells me. With Olive oil I'd go for the extra virgin. We all love virgin don't we? ahahahahaha

Haha, I think I paid $9 plus $5ish for shipping. No big deal, I'll just use it for now and then switch over to fish oil. At least I got the olive oil right, I've been drinking that straight since I didn't want to coat the mixer cup in oil.

I plan to only use the flax at night, maybe 1.5 tbsp before bed and use olive oil like 3 times at 1tbsp each time. I need to get to the grocery store to get some natty PB though!

You want to try to get oils with higher monosaturated fats.

I like coconut oil to cook. Olive ol for salads and vegtables. Flax seed thrown in protien shakes and fish oil caps at bed.

Remember certain oils like olive oil you cant heat to high as it will oxidize.

Yes! Forgot to mention that Dragon Fire! Don't cook with olive oil.
 
I like Olive oil, a good quality olive oil is easy to consume (over foods) and will give many positive efffects.
 
HEMP OIL

HEMP OIL IS CONSIDERED "NATURE PERFECT OIL" IT HAS THE PERFECT BLEND OF:

OMEGA 3
OMEGA 6
OMEGA 9

Hempseed oil contains 54.4% linoleic acid (Omega-6), 18.3% linolenic acid (Omega-3), 2-5% gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and 1-2% stearidonic acid; and as such is one of only 4 oils to do so:

Hempseed oil is among the lowest in saturated fats at 8% of total oil volume. Only flax oil has more linolenic acid than hemp oil at 58% , but hempseed oil is the highest in total essential fatty acids at 80% of total oil volume.

i buy tuna packed in water, drain the water then add some olive oil to it....I swear it make the tuna a lot more palatable!
 
I use both, both are fine......
 
i use an oil called OptOmega, it contains a mixture of oils and contains both Omega 3 and 6 in a ration of 3:1.

It contains Flaxseed oil, sunflower seed, pumpkin seed, and extra virgin olive oil,Tocopherol, rice bran oil, rosemary extract, and Tumeric extract.

Really high in antioxidents.
 
olive oil

because its cheap, and i take a total efa daily anyways. i usually just use a ton of olive oil on all my meals.. just like it.. and i cant even taste it anymore..
