When you take an oral dietary supplement or even a medication, it travels from your mouth through your esophagus to your stomach, where the true digestion and metabolism processes starts. From your stomach, the ingredients enter your small intestine and eventually will be absorbed for entrance into your bloodstream. We all know that some are excreted via either the fecal or urinary route, but the question exists: is there a better way to deliver more of a product to the body? The answer is yes and this answer is important because not all vitamins, minerals, herbals, other supplements or medications are well absorbed. A pharmaceutical company from California has came up with a way to help absorption of these supplements. The active agent is polyethylene oxide, which is already used in ice cream, toothpaste, and other products that need fluffing. This allows a substance with this in it to say in the stomach for up to 12 hours allowing for better absorption. And we all know its not how much you take its how much you absorb. So I'm kind of curious about this when it hits the stores in the near future.
