A female competitor at my gym was telling me that she has been getting cold after she eats , like her hands get freezing cold for an hour after eating. I’ve never heard of anything like this and all I can think is that she is anemic or something that’s causing poor circulation when more blood goes to her stomach after eating.

Anyone ever heard or have anything like that happen??

The only sups she is taking is 40mcg clen and 10mg Nolvadex

My exact thought too, about the blood flowing to the digestive system and then not enough around the body. Never heard of that before, getting cold. I cant exercise now too soon after eating because of that, with my heart failure. Im much more likely to get an arrhythmia.

I get cold when my blood sugar drops after a carb type meal. Maybe an hour after I eat my sugar seem to drop and I get the usual low blood sugar type symptoms such as getting cold easily.

Likely postprandial hypotension unless there's other symptoms involved

I’ll have her track her blood sugar and blood pressure today before , during and after a couple meals to see what that looks like. I don’t think it’s a blood sugar issue as she is currently several weeks into a lower carb diet. She has gotten pretty lean the last few weeks and that is when she said she started noticing it

That's an idea.

I would have her think about what medications she is on too. Any blood pressure meds.

Just met with her for lunch , checked blood pressure and blood glucose
10min before eating , BG-84 , BP 119/78 , 77bpm

Ate 4oz baked cod , 3oz steamed asparagus , 3oz Avocado , 12oz water

10min after eating BG-93 , BP 123/86 , 84 bpm

20min after eating BG-95 , BP 121/81 , 78 bpm (started getting cold hands)

45 min after eating BG 91 , BP 122/80 , 74 bpm (hands and feet cold)

After standing outside (86 deg 80% humidity) for about 10 min she started feeling normal again

Labs from early March have her thyroid at
TSH-1.9
T3 - 127
T4 - 7.8
Hematocrit - 37.6
Hemoglobin- 14.7

Protein intake for the day in 165-180g , fat is 60-65g , carbs are trace from green vegetables which is 2-3oz per meal

Current body weight is 116lb @ 5’1” , pretty lean pic on the right with pants is 3 weeks ago , pic on the left is last week

No blood pressure meds , only meds she takes is 10mg Paxil a day
Current taking 40mcg clenbuteral and 10mg nolvadex , 2 weeks on , one week off with the clen, She takes ECY the week she is off the clen. Been on nolvadex for 4 weeks now
Taking a multi vitamin , 4,000iuD3 , “Zinc , magnesium , potassium” supplement once a day as well as 500mg calcium (Tums) with each meal

What are the ranges for the thyroid?

Why tums every meal? Does taking tums with each meal help with cholesterol?

Id honestly work backwards removing 1 sup at a time to see if its something she is taking....

Her coach has her taking the tums for added calcium (not sure why)
She’s been taking the same supplements for a while , since March when she started her prep. Been taking Nolvadex for 4 weeks and Clen for 8 weeks.
I think she is to start T3 at 25mcg a day this coming week

Calcium carbonate(tums) is a terrible way to get your calcium. Much better forms out there.
As far as feeling cold, shes looking pretty lean. Is it possible she's not used to having such low body fat and after eating when the blood rushes to the gut maybe that just leaves her feeling chilly?
Also...the clen. Clen gives me the feeling of having a cold or the flu. Achey, shakey, feverish and cold. Could be something to look at

Let's put it this way, female sex hormone homeostasis is 10408584938 times more complicated than men's. I'd recommend her seeing her OB or if she has an endo, women get screwy when they get that lean.
