glycerol uses?

I tried searching this out but it returns a lot of comments on LBAs and blood sugar impacts. There are a few statements where people claim to use glycerol but I haven't really been able to find an explaination of WHY they take glycerol or what it helps to accomplish.

So why would someone take glycerol? What are the benefits it offers? what are the differences between glycerol and glycerol mono stearate?

thank you. I googled it but there was such a wide variety of information and uses that I wasn't sure I was reading about the same product each time.

Its def. something you have to experiment with!!! It affects everyone different depending if you are more carb-sensitive or fat-sensitive

I know some guys who take it by itself, others with 4oz red wine, etc and they look phenomenal! I mean.. if it works for you it can make a guy who is 6% look like he is under 5% and really add to that shrink-wrapped look

For me personally, I've tried it a handful of times and it makes me look like a bag of ass each and everytime. I've tried it by itself, with creatine, and with red wine and all 3 which almost sent me to the hospital... So... EXPERIMENT
 
Glycerol has calories but little to no effect on insulin. It pulls water into your muscle, acting as a super-hydrater. It increases vascularity and gym pumps. I take 1TBL with LBAs before my workouts and I have had fantastic results.

Im not sure why bnutbutter had issues with this stuff. Glycerol is an extremely common food additive and you will find it in most protein/energy bars, sugar-free foods, etc. Its everywhere.

LBAs, in addition to having a superior amino acid profile have glycerol as well. LBAs are really all you need.

yup, i do the same i usually will hve 40g lba with my pre workout meal get great pumps and fullness

do we know how many calories?
I've seen that it works well as a transport mechanism for shuttling nutrients into muscle cells. Could you use glycerol in place of say maltodexotrin to shuttle in protein after a workout without causing a large insulin spike? And would the shuttling work with a protein powder or are we looking at the completly broken down amino acid form?

Just get some LBAs and forget about it. All this detail doesnt build muscle. LBAs do.

You really can find all the answers to you questions with some basic searching on this site. Keep it simple, my friend.

Not trying to argue but why is that? I have never heard this, of course that does not mean it isnt 100%true.

I've seen the opposite proposed. That it pulls out water from muscle cells in into the plasma. Makes sense to me.
 
a few years ago my home gym was on the top floor and no airconditioner in the summer:eek:. i'm talking super hot. probably 100 degrees up there, not exaggerating. i used to take 2tbsp glycerol with about a liter or 2 of water an hour or 2 before working out and workouts were much easier. it prevents dehydration. endurance athletes are know to use it on hot days. its very cheap too.:)
 
I read that glycerol is back on the WADA banned list. Effective masking agent.

Imagine that, something commonly used in many foods, such as protein bars, is illegal for tested athletes :D
