Latimus, I just graduated with a degree in Dietetics and have that book. Agreed on the book, it was damn expensive. Applying to internships soon?
NO actually. I opted to not go that route. I could rant about dietetics all day about why you shouldnt major in it and definetly not at the shcool I went to.
for the short.
the majority of dietetians are out of shape individuals who can read a book, know the information and give you a opinoin based on studies. they look like shit and are sexist bitches. there alot like alot of the doctors out there, they think they know everything because they studied alot in college and read books. bullshit.
not saying you are like this bro. just at my school its really sad.
another sad point is that dietetians bitch all the time about personal trainers or other non qualifed people making money off giving diet info. cry me a river, they probably have a better overal understanding then most of the dietitian students I know.
Its really messed up at my shcool all the proffessors dont want to "ruin the rep" so they will only write recomendations for internships to a select few nerdy assed students who will make shitty dietetians.
FOr anyone that is wanting to go the dietetics route, think very hard if you really want to do it. there are not alot of internsihps and u better get a 3.5 or above in all the ochem, biochem, chem, microbio, anatomy, physiology otherwise you are fucked for getting an internship.
There really are not alot of jobs out there anyway and medical insurance companies dont recognize visits or consultations anyway. so anyone that can go to a practice dietitan better have some money.
I knew it wasnt for me when" everytime I get asked whats your major" I say dietetics and the person responds with " whats that". I then knew there was a big problem with the ada if the everage person still has no fucking clue what a dietetian is. then when I explain it to a person, they go oh you are going to be a personal trainer or nutritionst. LOL
so that is the route I am going, I am going to get my nasm and start personal training again and build off that. I have a good background degree and will have just as much credibility to give diet info.
tonka are you trying for any. if so what ones??
