Good read on the abuse of gear and where it may lead

I thought some of you would find this blog to be of interest. Since this has been a hot topic of debate lately, this may influence some to rethink their decisions.

Its also interesting because it mentions professional muscle.

Oh and one more thing of importance....at the bottom of that blog, read the first comment by the Pro this is related to.

If anything, its making me rethink alot of things, especially now that Im getting older and care more about my family than I do anything else.

"With the overuse of insulin now many have pancreaitis of varying degrees and forms. Many need to be and will be on medication for the rest of their lives, if their lives are not shortened. They are worried, they are afraid, and they just want to feel, and be normal again. That will never happen. Why?"

Insulin use does not lead to pancreaitis

" Because you post 1,000 times on various boards, doesn’t mean you know what you are talking about, or that you have anything meaningful to say."

Totally agree with this part

Just the opposite. For those using different types of carb products such as Celltech the best thing to do is use insulin. You're saving your pancreas a lot of work.

Recently a client sent me this link: http://www.professionalmuscle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16710

It is basically someone confessing to a near death experience from his stack. I don’t go to other bodybuilding sites, ever. I read this because of questions and concerns my client had regarding the thread. But it just reinforces to me how crazy and out of hand all of this is getting and has gotten. The experts that exist in bodybuilding as I have said many times, exist more in reputation than in real terms. It’s hurting many out there. It’s time for one person to say crazy, when crazy is what it is.

I'm sorry I just understood the above article as saying all bodybuilding drugs are harmful. I cant agree with that all though I do agree that large doses over a prolonged peroid of time can/will cause damage. Just my .02

There are some good points in that blog, but I disagree with the insulin use causing pancreatitis. If that was the case, every insulin dependant diabetic would have an inflammed pancreas. Doesn't happen. He needs to look at large amounts of alcohol consumption as a leading case for that.

Well, I don't know about pancreatitis, but I do believe that insulin use can cause problems with insulin production. Taking it a couple of days per week post workout probably won't be a problem, but some guys take it multiple times per day. If you're doing this, then yeah, you're shutting down our own insulin production. If you do that long enough, it could be permanant.

Anyway, I completely agree with this article. I've been guilty of stupidity in my younger days when it comes to juice, but I've learned my lesson. I honestly believe that there is never a reason to go over a gram a week and I don't even go that high. Of course I'm not a competitive bodybuilder either, but I think if you have to take ridiculous amounts of steroids to be able to compete, then you shouldn't be a competitive bodybuilder either. And again, what the hell is the point of competing anyway? If you aren't one of the top guys in the world, you aren't gonna make a living at it. And if you TRY to become one of the top guys in the world, is it really worth risking your life to get there? I just don't see why there is such a need to look good on stage in your panties next to other guys who look good on stage in their panties. I agree that professional AND amateur bodybuilding have become jokes.

a lot of people here know damn well they are not going to be professional or a amature competing nationaly, they compete because they LOVE the sport and have a passion to excell and take their body to limits it has not seen, that is why they compete, not every one is trying to make a living off of it.

do you workout?
if so then why?

chances are it is the same reason people compete in bodybuilding shows, it gives them more self confidence, higher self esteem, working to achieve a goal, enjoy pushing themselvs hard, the list goes on and on..

I take offense to the way you say bodybuilders get on stage next to each other in their "panties" they are posing trunks bro, you have to wear them to be able to evaluate the physique properly, have you been to a bodybuilding show? as many posts as you have i would think that you would know that by now even if you are not a competitive bodybuilder..

Just to reiterate, I wasn't saying all Pro's do this to themselves or even amateurs. It wasn't even to point out the insulin/pancreatitis debate that you guys keep bring up. It was the abuse of the body and not listening to the signs and symptoms before they get you.

I dont agree with everything he states in this blog...but one thing I do get is the message that he's trying to convey, and one that Phil and some others have been trying to convey. I've never been a huge dosage guy myself, but I've always wondered what if.

Lately I've decided to keep wondering "what if"....hell I've even contemplated never competing again. Sometimes I think its the dumbest thing on earth. I honestly would have thought that as long as I have been lifting and competing that I would have lost desire for this whole thing. I've even tried to talk myself out of it numerous time, but I love this sport too much......I guess!

Oh, excuse me, POSING TRUNKS. Is that better? As for you being offended, honestly, I've never really given a shit about that stuff. I just say what I say because I want to say it. You don't have to like it. Panties is just a lot more fun to say.

Anyway, you make it sound like taking ridiculous amounts of drugs is the thing to do if you want to "excel and take your body to limits it hasn't seen". Well, you might reach a new level externally, but it is it worth it when you're destroying yourself internally? Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against competing in bodybuilding if you do it as a healthy hobby with the intent of TRULY bettering your body. But, MANY people have this sick obsession with getting bigger and leaner at any cost, and that IS stupid. Bettering your body does NOT include endangering your life.

As for why I workout, it's to stay strong, mobile and athletic. I've been up to 270 lbs at 7% bodyfat but I felt like a big, lazy, immobile tub of shit. I've dropped 30 lbs and increased the bodyfat and feel SOOOO much better. Really though, people can do whatever they want with their bodies. I don't give a shit either way. I'm just saying FOR ME, I would NOT risk my life or internal organs so that I could look prettier in panties......I mean posing trunks.

KM2000, This is no attack, first off. You seem like a great guy. BBJ has been around the gear world probably as long as I have (as we are pretty close in age). "He has seen", and that is why he is skeptical. A friend of the boards has recently come up wth physical problems, let alone others he has probably known in the past. He preaches from experience his findings over the years. You have to understand that there are veterans here, that are seasoned in all that is negative about the sport. It is hard to keep our mouths shut when talking about the health risks. It is also hard to picture a fella in posing trunks, ie: panties. :D

Yes, rAJ, and the more it gets out of hand and people do not respect it the more illegal it will become in ALL countries. Can you place a dollar amount on what it will cost then? rAJ is right, respect it, and lets keep our little community as little as possible media-wise.

It is every promuscle members responsibility to help keep this place "safe". This is a place to learn, chill, and talk with others that share the same passion. Drugs are the last thing that interests me about bodybuilding, but without a place like this I could have made horrible (uneducated) choices. The local bros were telling me I should tren stacked with anadrol for my first cycle. I didn't know any better, but after researching and finding this sanctuary, I made an informed choice. Tren and adrol is a horrible combo especially for a first time user.
Hormones can really enhance your life. Be safe, and study. And help to keep promuscle the best kept secret in "our" community!

yes posing trunks sounds a lot better thank you!

you need to reread my post I never said anything about drugs or anything that can be interperted as so, I dont know where you got that thought that I was implying that taking large amounts of gear is the way to get bigger? please underline or quote where I said or implied that, you wont find it bro.

you seem to want to put words in my mouth, we all know we can sit here and talk about how taking lots of drugs is bad for you and all the reprocussions you will suffer, but that dog has been beat dead bro! that is why i didnt bring it up i the first place, I agree with you on that!
you said...
"I just don't see why there is such a need to look good on stage in your panties next to other guys who look good on stage in their panties"

that is like someone who dosent workout saying to you "what is the need to go to the gym and lift weights in your spagetti strap tank top with a whole bunch of other sweaty guys in tank tops?" you would probably take a little offense to a statement like this...

just reread my post man, I was simply explaining to you why bodybuilders get on stage as it seemed you were confused... its pretty simple with no disrespect..

I agree with you bro! and I appericiate the vets for everything they do here. I just was a little confused as to why he didnt understand the concept of competitors getting on stage in trunks to be judged, maybe i misunderstood what he was saying? I was not advocating heavy drug use, or drug use in general at all. just giving him an understanding as to why we get on stage in our panties with each other;)
