Ok, growing up Mike Francois and Phil were two guys that just were FREAKS to me. I was into the legs and back thing for obvious reasons. Check this out. I am still amazed at the lok of the front double bicep shot. Just blows you away.

I saw Phil win his pro card in '95 in Denver at the USA's. Before the night show I saw him walking around the entrance area of the auditorium and was just amazed.

Guys like Phil and Mike Francois have always appealed to me in a very ssspecial way. LOL Seriously, I love that look. Very powerful. Sure most guys I see look great. JoshB looks really awesome. But most bodybuilders dont look like they could run through a wall, flip over buses and eat the Juggernaut for lunch too. So maybe I have some ego involved but I love seeing the TRUE POWERHOUSE BUILDS. Big, powerful AND strong.

I remember seeing Mike Francois in maybe 97/98 at an NPC show on Staten Island where he was signing autographs and guest posing. He was in off season shape and looked ridiculously thick and strong. The guy was sitting on two metal folding chairs and I remember his forearms looking more like thighs when he signed my program.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT AMAZES ME EVERY TIME I SEE A PIC OF PHIL IS THAT HE DID NOT DO CARDIO AND WAS STILL RIPPED!

If you have a real good look at Phil, he has one of the most balanced and astheticly pleasing physiques even by today's standards. Strong, healthy, power plus just pours from the muscles. Dense and full. He was ahead of his, and others' time!! Very inspiring!!

imo the builds on the guys in 94-98 were the best ever. in that they looked like they could run through walls jump over buses ect. compared to todays pros who in many cases are starting to resemble the bulls that are brought out to show. todays pros are so thickly muscled that muscle groups are on top of each other. i realize and respect that this is the continued evolution of our sport at its most advanced level. imo the sport took a wrong turn in the late ninties, opting to push more and more size when i feel refining the build at the top am./pro level would have been very interesting. also the advances in pharms. and their use kind of dictated this.

Just talked to Louie Simmons and asked about Mike, since Mike was in Louie's Reverse Hyper video.

Sounds like some health problems have sidelined his competition days, but he trains people still, and is doing ok, which is good to hear.

That first pic of Phil is probably one of my favorite Phil pics.

I guess it's because he looks like he could just walk by on the street, stop to check for traffic....bam..there he is. Impressive in that he's not overly flexed looking. Just huge with a small midsection.
