Was conditioning in the 90's better than todays?

Cant eat luki , sometime eat 4 meal sometime 2

If my boss has meeting i cant take out tuperware

I hold my physique on nothing

I would have done it earlier if i picked other profesion

I know myself anf what i can do and pics not do me justice

Countless times every summer guys weighing 110kg + come to me and say i look like a pro

My skin is flawless and i have same cm calves as arms and insane vtaper at 95 kg 1,75 i wear 30 jeans

And 16 to 30 yo i was frogman go from base to base and insane cardio every day
You have incredible genetics, and I believe you could have gone pro if that was your goal.
Phil Hernon told me when he was his biggest and best he lived on protein shakes due to no time to eat.
I was my all time best, a very lean 250Lbs, on 10 shakes and 1 meal of extra lean ground turkey breast with steamed rice. I’d chug a shake in under 2 minutes in front of a room full of people. At night I’d wake up every 2 hours and chug a shake then go pee since I get up to pee every 2 hours anyway. Bring all your premade shakes in a cooler. I worked an 8 hour job, then went straight to the gym and lifted weights for 1 1/2 hours, then went straight to my night job for 4 hours.
If your employer let’s you drink water then I’m sure he would let you chug a protein/oats/mct oil/greens powder shake premixed in water. Just a thought. No disrespect meant. 🙏

Im 40 and work 16 hour per day , enough reason 😇

And i really believe i could be pro in classic but life had diferent plans for me
As someone who is actually trying to back that statement up myself now I would argue it’s not as easy as one thinks to get a pro card.

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what we looked like at 19. What matters is how we look now and we either got or will get a pro card or we won’t. There’s a reason only the 1% are pro athletes. They’re willing to do what the 99% aren’t.

No hate in saying that. I just try to be realistic, even with myself. Lol

If you were stage ready you should have hopped on the stage and gotten a pro card. I respect you a lot man but I see no reason to talk down an achievement like achieving pro status. If you feel you could get one yourself, you should understand more than anyone how much work goes into it right?

Getting pro card it's easier than it used to be, that's fact. There was a time when competitors from outside US had to become world champions in open class to become pro. There was no other way if i'm remember it right.

Does it mean it's easy nowadays? Absolutely not. It's still fu*** hard, plenty of great competitors have been trying for years and no succeed.

Nobody is saying you look like shit. But you just keep responding with what you’ve done and “what you think”.

I am being objective and trying to tell you that none of that matters in bodybuilding. Until you get on a stage and win… it’s all talk.

Like I said, I live this everyday and I speak from experience so is not hate. Just look at the number of killer physiques on here without a pro card. And many of them have tried.

Get on stage and prove us all wrong. 😎

Much love to all

Calm down James Bond 😅 this is PM after all it wasn’t a personal attack against you but there’s guys on here with incredible physiques who’ve been toiling away for years to try and get a pro card I would expect anyone saying “I could of done that if I’d wanted to” would get roasted
Haha james bond 🤣🤣🤣

Good one i give tou that

All good man i not have problem get roasted im not 16yo

There were less pro cards given out in the 90’s so from that aspect it was easier.

If you’d asked me two years ago I would have said it was easier today, but with the new judging criteria of size, roundness, fullness, sharpness AND a tight waist and peeled out of your mind conditioning it is extremely hard today to get a pro card still.

The last month I have been training with current pro’s, national competitors and a past top pro. I believe if you want to be something you need to surround yourself with it. As hard as I thought I went in this sport, it’s been humbling. It’s not a hobby, job or fun… it’s an obsession unlike any other these guys have.

So I think each era was hard by its own rights. And you know we are good and don’t discount your hard work or physique by any means. We are good and nothing but respect. 👍🏼

Lol of course it was harder in the 90's.
1. There were less cards given out
2. Was no classic physique back then which probably made the lighter weight classes more difficult as they had no other option than bodybuilding.

My point to people that talk about easy pro cards is simply "then go get one" why not? No one is stopping YOU but YOU!

I think Dorian won the British Championships and then won the Night of Champions. So at least then that would mean a national champion at least from Briton was enough to turn pro I think.

Up until a few years back in the UK you had only one guy turn pro per year with the UKBFF. Now most guys do a qualifier with 2bros and go do a European show and turn pro of which there’s many more and arguably of a lesser standard

interesting. Dorian's story is inspiring.
