Hey everyone. I'm just newly registered here but have been reading this site for quite a while. I thought it about time to pop a question I have had for ages though, so here it is.
During my 2 past bulking cycles I had an unfortunate side-effect that I have never seen mentioned before. The muscles in my face, namely the chewing muscles in front of the temples and at the base of the jaw in front of the ear, got significantly bigger.
I put on muscle very easily while bulking. What would happen is, during meals where I had to eat something chewy or sticky, I would get a massive pump in my face so that I literally could not chew anymore (this left me looking completely ridiculous, my cheeks and temples would swell up huge, red, and vascular while I was eating). I would have to take a break and let the muscles cool down before I could finish. Apparently, the muscles decided to grow along with the rest of my body.
The problem with this, aside from the obvious, is that my face is the first place I put fat on. Coupled with the muscle growth there, my face would get huge on a bulking cycle and the muscle would remain large even after I started to cut down fat.
I'm not sure if you guys will have a cure for this, I have always just assumed it is unavoidable. But if there is some way to keep my face muscles from growing...I'd like to hear it.
Strange question, huh? Thanks for reading and helping, bros.
