oh wow that's actually Skip. I didn't think it was really him. This is the last board I still go to. Lot of good dudes here. Mostly a 35-55 crowd so you get a lot of the "old school" type folks style here (I'm 42 and use terms like "folks" lol).
But have you started using the word "shenanigans" or "whippersnapper" yet?

It depends what you mean by "stick with it." I did it for about 12 weeks (give or take a week).

It worked well, but it ended up not providing as impressive results the last half of those 12 weeks as it did the first half. On the one hand, it was cool to learn (after all these years) that you can go a lot longer than you might think without training and still progress. On the other hand, it was incredibly difficult on the psyche because I was always mentally fresh due to training only every other week. My joints felt incredibly, though. lol

The other frustrating thing was something I hadn't even considered until I experienced it during those 12 weeks: When I traveled for vacation, went to see the kids in Milwaukee, or had a client or friend in town, it always frustrated me that these things never happened on the off weeks for training. Obviously, it was just a coincidence, but I thought an added bonus would be that I would have time out of town that wouldn't involve training, but that was not how it happened. I would be completely out of the gym for a week, and then while traveling, I would have to train and keep everything 100%. If I'm 100% ALL the time, no problem. When you're only 100% every other week it makes it tough. In the end, I just feel better training consistently, but it was still a good experience because I had wondered about it for years.

What are some of the biggest mistakes you’ve made in your bodybuilding/lifting career?

What do you feel has also worked the best for you personally? Could be diet, training, gear, anything (I know it’s a pretty vague question)

Always eager to hear insight from those with decades of experience
