What are some of you guys using for logging @ the gym? I'm tired of dragging a notebook around. I tried switching to just using my phones notepad but it's slightly annoying. Any good apps where I could just put in my own routine and just log my weekly sets / reps / weights used for progress?

Been looking into this as well. Hate people staring as I write in a notebook lol

I´ve been using FitNotes for some time and like it a lot, the notebook and pen got old rather quickly.

Maybe it’s me, and tho I smirk when I see the old note pad and pen or pencil ..

I admire it and respect that person more.

The fact that you want to change because people stare isn’t really a good reason..

Be you.. if YOU like to write it down and you’ve been doing it for so long.. why change ? People are too quick to judge others and find fault,
And they also want to jump on the bandwagon with what’s “cool”..

All the old school dudes in the local gyms here use the pad and paper and you know them are the dudes to look up too

I've always used the generic notepad app on phones. It does the job and it's easy. I can always copy+paste and email myself the notes too.

Truthfully I carry enough crap around with me as it is, and my gym has a "no bag" policy in the weight areas. Basically I'm just carrying around all my straps, belt, aminos, phone/keys, whatever else and I'm trying to cut down on shit I have to carry, hence the getting rid of the pad and paper.

Same here. I use a lean app called simple workout log. Does what it is supposed to do. I want an app thats easy to navigate and does not provide all kind of unneeded functions. However I can log all the info along every set i need (e.g. in a comment field).

Fuck what other people think. Why some random. Dude should be even taken into consideration when it comes to my life.

Cant beat a pen and notebook!

Great post even if I don't log anything. Guys you shouldn't care what others think about you as long as you aren't doing anything bad. If I logged anything it would be with a notebook and pen. I personally don't see the need in logging everything. I can remember my fmain lifts so writing everything down for me is not needed but everyone is different.

As the OP of this thread, I never said I cared about what people think. I said it's a fucking hassle carrying a pen and notebook around (especially in my gym where a bag is not allowed outside of the locker room) - just trying to be efficient mates. Thats all. Thought there might be an app out there worth using over just my Notepad app on my iPhone Lol.

drafts 5 and append the notes to a logbook on bear. it's simple programming commands you can set up on shortcuts on iphone or android. Super simple if you look up how-to's on youtube or written tutorials.

Takes a few minutes to set up the script but now I can open a draft note from a widget on my homescreen and either voice notate my exercise and add sets/reps/weights when done with the exercise in real time and it'll format everything in bear as a log.

Far and away worth the small time investment in setting it up, imo.

I would think so too,
But dont you loose your fine motor skills soon as your forearm pumps up??
I know I have trouble.

Thank you for the wisdom.

Anyway, people stare.. and then they ask questions.

And I wanna be left the fuck alone while I workout lol. Hopefully that's a good enough reason for you.

I've tested several apps and to me the app called Progression is far and away the best. Can create your own excercise very easily and can create all the routines you want. I have notebooks that go back 10 years, but it's a headache to go back and track the lifts. With this app you can click on the excercise and it will give you the entire history of the movement. I got the paid version for less than 10 bucks. A one time fee

I use google keep for everything. I cant say enough good about it.

You log into your phone and its then accessible from your desktop to edit. You can do pretty much anything you want with it. See something crazy in the gym that day? Take a pic and attach it to your note that day. You could keep infinite logs that will always be available even if your phone and all your personal belongings are destroyed.

It's free to use.

I use an app called “Strong” to log and track my workouts on my phone. I will never go back to using pen and paper again.
