No, not from some wannabe 50cent thug, but from the fact that the world is coming to what it is. No offense to anyone who lives in LA, but its the closest thing ive ever seen to armageddon. I was in Manhattan Beach, Long beach, and a few other places. Drove past compton. It funny. Those guys act so hard but are such pussies. Seal beach and belmont shore were the only civilized places I saw. These people are literally animals. I actually saw a guy running with a purse. I actually saw 2 hit and runs. I saw a lady hesitate in line when ordering food and about 3 people were like "come on, hurry up" It was chaos. My wife was gonna attend school at long beach communtiy college until we drove by and it looked like a freakin rap concert was being held outside the school. A 350square foot studio apt was $1000. So many wannabe gangster thugs its was disgusting. Its funny how they think they are hot shit and then back down when someone over 250lbs walks next to them. No offense to anyone who lives there, but how do you do it? It took 3hours for us to drive a 30min drive. No apartment was under 2grand unless it was in the middle of a welfare uncivilized zoo. Everyone was in such a freakin rush and looked so unhappy. OHHH God and don't even get me started on the homeless.

I went to Venice area a few years back to look at relocating to train & live in the "Mecca" 3 days later I packed my bags & went home after I witnessed a murder and saw a guys back get splatterd agains a wall 20ft from me. :(

thread disappeared

Fourthgen,

I sent you a PM because this thread disappeared when I wanted to respond. I am 20 year LA native, from Colorado and Midwest, and may be able to point you in the right direction. LA can be a pain-in-the-ass, sh*thole, but it is a great place to make money depending on your industry. And then there's the beach which makes up for a lot and keeps away the thugs (in the right neighborhoods).

Let me know if I can help...

THATS WHY I LIVE OUT IN THE WOODS!

It may take me an hour drive to get home from work everyday but im the only gangster out there! haha

WOULDNT LIVE IN LA FOR ANYTHING!

1badboy-

If you get a chance, can you post your PM/ thoughts as where to live?

I am interviewing for an opportunity to cover a sales territory rangning from
downtown LA up the coast to Santa Barb. and as far east as Bakersfield.

I am thinking of moving Hollywood area (most of the reps I will meet would be in my Beverly Hills/Pasadena rotation). A lot of my colleagues have mentioned Westlake Village or Thousand Oaks---I also have no kids or a wife to worry about.

same here...i love the country

what's crime?? leave keys in trucks, house doors unlocked, bonfires, i wouldn't want to grow up anywhere else.

i do love visiting the city tho

Jman88,

I've lived in Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Beach for 20 years- the beaches are nice, people kind of snobby but in shape and hot, and cops look out for thugs and chase them away (they will screw with "locals" too as they are pissed that they don't live at the beach).

BUT if you are covering north of Hollywood, I would look at lofts in downtown- (don't know if you are planning on buying... but you can't touch much in Hermosa/Manhattan for under $1.5 mil that is worth much- and rent will be about $2500 to $3000). Downtown is pretty cool now, cleaner than Hollywood, and good investments to be made.

I'd stay away from any Valley location- gangs, hotter than hell, and real estate is about to plunge. Santa Monica is great if you can get near the beach- some cool complexes, kind of the "Melrose Place" thing.

PM me if you want more specific info- like if you want to rent or buy, have a dog, want to go clubbing in Hollywood, etc and I may be able to give you some more advice or at least links to good web sites that break it down.

LA - it's all about the Benjamins...

I have been to LA many times and honestly am not impressed with the way people are and the way people treat each other...

honestly look into downtown LA as I stayed there this past Feb. for a week for work and was impressed by the "revitilization" occuuring as it appears there are all kinds of condo's lofts, etc. going in downtown...... people from the expo I attended and people at the golds gym downtown i talked to said that prices were a little cheaper then others but that it is a really growing area....

On a positive note, when I went out there i got hang out with a friend of mine from home and we hung out with some peeps born and raised in LA they were somie of the coolest people I met..... One thing his GF said to me is that you run into alot of wannabes, rude, and self centered people and they are mostly people that have moved to LA and just are wannabes

Huntington is cool

Will Rogers Beach are where all tourists go (at end of Sunset Blvd) and where runoff goes- I'd never go there. Redondo Beach has same problem.

I agree, Huntington is cool but most people that live there end up driving North for an hour a day to work- not much work in Huntington unless you repair cars or work retail. And don't get me started about the attitude with Newport Beach/Laguna Beach people.

If you work at home, south OC or San Diego is where it's at, it's just not where the WORK is at.

And the guy is going to be working from Hollywood to Santa Barbara... hey, maybe live in SB...

EDIT: And the beach is more than just swimming- volleyball, a breeze that keeps things cool, and usually a boardwalk/Strand for biking/rollerblading, etc.

Fuck LA. Live in San Diego, most beautiful place in California, and that's saying a lot. Plus, it has the added benefit of being right next to Mexico. That way you can cross the border to do your gear, like John Romano.

I lived in SD for many years. Unfortunately its 2nd on the most populated list in usa. LA is 1st with 4million. SD used to be so nice until all the trash move in. There are still some very nice area's like La Costa, La Jolla, Carlsbad,etc.. but the price is so expensive. Although i'd rather have it cost a lot to keep the trash away, and maybe one day I can move back there.

Dude, don't get me started. I have lived in Los Angeles all my life and when I remember how it used to be here in the 60's I want to cry. I don't live in a bad neighborhood but it's getting worse. The only places fit to live in are areas so expensive only a doctor or a lawyer can afford them. Not to sound racist but the illegal aliens have ruined Los Angeles. It's like living in Tijuana. It's a nightmare. Los Angeles has it's good points, but now the bad points are overwhelming. I can't take it anymore. I am calling all my government officials and telling them that if they support illegal immigration or amnesty they are not getting my vote.

Nothing racist about it

JohnnyPro, don't worry bro. People may call you a racist but what you said is a plain old dose of reality. I find it funny how anyone can deny the truth, or defend their liberal ignorance.

I doubt anyone will think thats racist...We got one of the biggest problems with that here in AZ...Goverment acts like its impossible to stop:confused: ...My Wife works for a large resort and she tells me how easy it is for illegals to jobs there as housekeepers, maintnence and all that...All they need is fake social security card...So there is people working there that seriously cant say one word of english and a Social Security Card that says there name is Scott Johnson????

Fourthgen I have been to LA many of times and I love it...And I have never seen anything go down there except killer traffic...Manhattan beach is super snobby, even all the wannabe thugs were driving beamers and escalades..:p I think it just a place that you have to get use to...But for some people it can be too much...

The San Diego area is great, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Carlsbad, encinitas, oceanside, solana beach, basically the whole north county coastal area is nice.

But for some people it can be too much...

I had the best expirience last time I was there and I stayed on seventh street about 10 blocks west of downtown in the middle of a large hispanic community, I mean there was nothing in english....The front desk people warned me to only travel on this main street and go to downtown and back don't go off on any other street.....I never had one problem whatsoever.....maybe that was becuse I was a whole foot taller than most other people and about 175lbs heavier than them....lol....

Yeah I LOVE to visit but like vegas after a couple of days there I am ready to go home.....I get tired of the hollywood hustle.....I guess I am just a good ole hoosier boy....:D

I have to second that. I am from and live in Sacramento when Im not away at college, but I visit San Diego quite often, and have to say it is without a doubt my favorite place to go. Sure I havent lived there to really experience it, but it is perfect as far as weather and location are concerned. LA I agree is just too all over the place. very disconnected feeling. But then again Sacramento is growing like weeds, and is becoming the same way in a sense, so I think its just due to LA's mass population. I have trained at the Venice Gold's though and have to say as a tourist I loved that gym and the beach right there.
