Had transparency/awareness on PEDs gone too far?

I made the mistake of going on Reddit today and the Exercise subreddit showed up on my page. A kid posted a very good transformation, went from fat to a lean shredded bodybuilder in a couple of years. He admitted he was taking 200mg of Test, and had run a little higher in the past.

Literally all of the comments were hate

“You’re going to die by 30”
“This is drug abuse and not fitness, no different than lip filler and extreme cosmetic surgery”
“You’re 21 but look 40”

You all know the gist. The comments were very very mean spirited though, I’m not even getting the full message across but I’m sure you guys can imagine. Telling him he’s going to die in a few years

And the worst is all the comments from normies, who because of all of this “transparency” the past few years, think they know what they’re talking about
“He is definitely running a steroid cycle of Primo, testo injection, Tren, dianabol, arimidex, winstrol, HGH”
Just cycles that don’t make sense, and everyone’s favorite “Tren”
Or guys who think they’re smart but you can tell they’re completely uneducated, one guy was arguing that anyone taking over 100mg test in a TRT setting will die by 40 (meanwhile my TRT to get me on the high end in range is 250-300).

The study everyone likes to cite is the one where everyone was given 600mg of test and some guys grew slightly without training

Now everyone thinks that you can take steroids and sit on the couch and grow. They told this kid he didn’t work hard and was cheating. “He’s not even in shape, he didn’t work hard, these guys can just take gear and get huge”

Then later on I saw a reel from a page where a guy goes around and asks fit people on the street how they are in shape. Found a Brazilian couple at South Beach and they were in pretty good shape. The dude was nothing crazy. Maybe 210lbs. But all the comments were hate there too. “This girl is on 100mg of Anovor and Testosterones” “this guy is taking 800mg tren and testosterone daily” “this isn’t fitness this is drug abuse”

The account is mostly a normie account and seen and commented on by normies

Now every time I see someone reasonably in shape, all the normies do is hate. The whole transparency towards PED use has not helped things at all. Now everyone thinks you can just sit back and inject gear and get huge and shredded with zero effort, and that you will die at age 30 or 40 if you do

Meanwhile almost all of these people don’t workout and drink and do rec drugs and eat fast food all day

I miss the days when things weren’t as well known and you had to “EARN” the right to learn about PEDs

Now everyone is so smug and confident they know what they’re talking about, and overall it makes the image of bodybuilding much worse in the general public

Back in the day when you saw someone in shape you knew they were disciplined and worked extremely hard. Now everyone thinks they know this hidden knowledge and dismiss any hard work done. If anything they think less hard work goes into it

Even in my own gym one of my buddies told me that everyone’s saying I’m blasting grams of Tren weekly and saying I’m going to die in a year or two. Meanwhile I get extensive physicals including EKGs every 6 months, and biweekly to monthly bloodwork and I am easily in the top 1% of health. Healthier than any of those nerds

Anyhow, I don’t really give a shit what people think, I do this because I love it. But I don’t think that every single normal person being “educated” on PEDs with all the transparency the past 5 years or so has done any good.
Most people in general are very ignorant, low achieving, and jealous, with an overinflated idea of their own intelligence and no humility to admit they’re not an expert on something

It’s like me going to a car forum and saying a bunch of dumb shit because I watched a few TikToks

Now people just see me as a drug abuser and junkie who’s a walking heart attack. I get “tren” comments at Costco ffs

I think things were better when the general public didn’t know much about PEDs.

Just a quick rant as I’m working late at night. What do you guys think?

in Poland we have a saying:

"when there was no internet only your family knew you were an idiot (now the whole world knows lol)"

that's how I sum up all social media lol

my advice - man just don't give a damn about these comments because 99.99% of the people writing them are kids with complexes who in real life are afraid to leave their room

Personally i think we havent hit enough transparency, we still have guys takin absolute fuck tons of gear saying "yeah i did 500mg of test a bit of deca and some dball for 12 weeks" when we know they blasted their ass of and cruised in between.. that give alot of the "kids" the idea that they can achieve it, when we all know its bull shit..

That's just Reddit being reddit.
There is a lot of good information there in the various subs, but a lot of people who have no life outside of shit-talking people they will never meet.
Some will always have something to say, in real life as well - I dealt with it in the early 90s a lot.

Think nothing of it.

I don’t think the transparency is the issue, but it’s a social media issue. Everything is so widely available online and there are so many shitfluencers who have a huge public and dramatize the high abuse of PED’s. Of course, on this board we abuse PED’s as well, injecting grams of gear is not normal lol, but we are all on the same page. We do this, like you said, cause we love it and perhaps cause we’re also crazy, but most of us do it way more carefully than the insta fitboy.

Transparency also leads to more PED abuse by the youngsters cause they saw the videos from the tren twins for example. So without any question people follow these influencers, hence the name, and just start with their advanced doses.

I really miss the days when nothing was as widely available as now and people who have to make content of everything. Back in the day you went to boards like PM and read up on things for days and weeks and asked questions to the more advanced guys cause they are willing to help, and still are, but also warned you and never advised 1g as a first cycle!

The benefit of today is that there is also for us so much more info available. So much more research and new compounds and everything is so easy to get. Instead of being afraid to ask the big guy in the gym to hook you up, you just google it and you get 100 hits in milliseconds who are legit.

I’ve got this young guy in my gym who is on his first cycle, 250mg test e and 200mg mast e and was already planning for his 2nd cycle but wanted to go up to a gram. I advised against it and just take it slow, you don’t need those high doses as a 2nd cycle. I wish I could still have big results on half a gram total gear a week 🤣.

Anyway, Reddit is also one of the most fucked up places to post this kind of stuff cause the regular person who is on there is ‘to stupid to shit’ like we say in Holland :). Choose your audience as well online these days, if the guy posted it on here he would’ve got a very very different experience.

Transparency also leads to more PED abuse by the youngsters
Agree. Regularly hear in my gym how 16-18 year old guys discuss tren cycles. And can't say that I'm surprised because 80% of bodybuilding content in IG and YT is about PED. Of course even 20-30 years ago lot of guys stated their PED usage at 16-18 years (at least i know some powerlifing world champions and pro bodybuilders from 200x) but still it wasn't so widespread

I mean go back a few years and everyone on boards like PM said the pros blast crazy amounts that’s the secret (I’m hoping it still is) and then it was general gym goers saying anyone who looked half decent took gear and the latest thing being anyone who loses weight must be on ozempic

Nothings changed significantly other than people who can’t accept facts and like to make themselves feel better by whatever justification they deem necessary will do just that

Sadly because of social media eeeeeverythings amplified massively. I’ve never ever had a single person say to be anything negative in person about gear etc

Social media/internet isn’t a true reflection of real life fully just yet even though it’s hurtling towards becoming that so until then let’s make the most of it and fingers crossed our generation are done and dusted before that happens

Bit off topic but in regards to your own social media post on instagram with clen and tren on metabolism , I'm presuming going to 400mg a wk of tren and pretend 700 a wk will keep burning even more calories everytime you increase with every increasing side effects being the major negative here the higher you go ?

That guy had an impressive transformation. I’m glad he said he’s only on 200mg NOW. If he said the doses he was on before he definitely would have got blasted 😂

I swear the first insult these people resort to when it comes to steroid users is “He’s only 25 but looks 50” meanwhile the guy just looks like a regular mature looking dude in his 20s. How the fuck is a 25 year old supposed to look to these people? Do they think that men in their mid to late 20s should all be looking like little k-pop boys with feminine faces.

And most of the time if a guy actually looks very rough for his age it’s usually either genetics or recreational drugs/alcohol. Sure steroids certainly don’t help but with moderate doses you aren’t going to just wake up the next day looking like emperor palpatine all because you took 500mg test with some anavar. There are plenty of well known celebrities/athletes taking gear and they look great for their age because they still take care of themselves

Reddit is not a place for legitimate discourse. You have to go with the herd otherwise you wont even be allowed to post comments.

I’m a big fan of transparency in this sport. It’s how we learn and help the next generation. I think gate keeping only leads to repeating the cycle of bad decisions for those who come after us.

What I’m not a fan of is Reddit. It’s where everyone goes who pretends to be an “expert” to fear monger that has no business doing or discussing the things they are posting about.

man sorry but I don't fully understand you and the second thing is that this is not the topic so let's not spam

It’s really more than just Reddit though. It’s TikTok, IG, and all the other social media platforms.

Everyone wants to be a huge social media personality like the Tren Twins and so on.

I hate it. I miss the old days.

Social media is the worst thing that ever happened to society.

I’d consider bodybuilding boards slightly different in terms of general mindset, but I avoid actual social media for the reasons you mentioned in the OP. Haven’t posted on Facebook In years, don’t have instagram or twitter or TikTok or whatever else people use nowadays, and Reddit seems especially bad

Every time you open any social media platform I feel like you just see a bunch of negative crap. I’ll pass on that

Social media amplifies everything. I don’t think the general public’s perception on steroid use has changed at all but now everyone has a platform to comment and “learn”. Now I don’t know how much learning is actually going on but as you’ve and all of us have probably witnessed, everyone these days think they’re a doctor lol

There’s very little learning taking place on social media. It’s all for attention, likes, financial gain and contains zero transparency or objectivity.

That’s why forums and private Facebook groups are the real gold mines. It’s transparent as people tell both sides of the topic and actually have the knowledge and experience to back it.

Exactly. The problem is the people but social media has allowed their views to be seen by a much greater audience. Moreover as Luki stated none of these people would actually voice their opinion in real life and only with the safety of their computer/phone. Some of them venture to the forums but they never last long. Although we still get posts like it on here with guys thinking drugs is the reason for everything.

Totally off topic but something that made me think recently. A child ended up growing up with wild dogs in a forest somewhere and when they found him he behaved just like a wild dog. Obviously no language or social skills. Human's begin at nothing but we have the capability to achieve great things and become extremely intelligent in many different ways. We all evolve differently and the spectrum is vast but a large number are humans are not far from that wild dog phase they can just communicate and get by in this world. I used to assume we were all intelligent in our own way but that isn't the case so as I get older I have sadly only become more cynical.

When I am on social media I realize just how many idiots there are in this life. The sad/funny thing is social media is all about instant gratification and likes so it has enabled many of these idiots to become extremely successful and have large platforms so their views are seen by many.
