Just X-rays done last night and it showed Tendentious in both shoulders . Have any of you guys ever had it in your shoulders? If so what did your orthopedic or doc do about it? I think it came from when I was younger and was recklessly doing dumb shit like 315lbs on shoulder presses and stuff smh.

Just had shoulder surgery last month and having double knee surgery all from tendon issues. If it truly is tendinitis, then rest it and let the inflammation settle down. If it progresses like mine did into tendonosis, then the tendons are micro-tearing and you need to either remodel them through eccentric loading, use biológics like PRP or stem cell, or get surgery to debride and clean up the tissue. I tied everything.

An X-ray would show bone vs soft tissue so I imagine some of it is showing inflammation and arthritis of the shoulder. MRIs show the ligaments and tendons which might be worth getting.

I’m 5 weeks into not working out at all and have another month of PT. You pay now or pay later with this stuff. After 25 years of lifting I’m paying for it now.

Rest up, get some deep tissue massage and try to avoid repetitive movement that will irritate the shoulder more.

Thanks for recommending the deep tissue massage. I haven’t had one in a while. And I’m due for one. I think that may help !

Did you get the x ray because you were having issues? I always reccomded a good pt who works with athletes. Did they see anything else, ac joint, labrum, cuff damage etc?

No joint damage or any other damage to speak of. And actually they did the X-ray because I am kind of embarrassed to say because I know better but I was doing shots in the same area when I should have been rotating and gave myself an abscess smh. But they found out I have tendinitis on both shoulders.

Might be something we all have to a degree just from lifting, if it doesn't bother you. Maybe a shoulder specialist could look and see if it anything to worry about. I have a partially torn labrum gives me no issues. I'd focus on strengthening the cuff, hit the rear delts with as much volume as front (many are unbalanced) and be smart with how you train shoulders. Maybe higher reps or more machines etc.

Yes. I’m sure it was from when I was younger and was doing stupid weight. Like I said 315 on seated military press and other dumb shit. Now I stick with lighter weights and mostly machines and supposing I grow better to be honest. I stick with squeezing the muscle every from. Also I do need to hit the rear delts don’t hit them nearly as much as I should.

Tendonitis in the shoulder is pretty broad but a few things...

-take a lacrosse ball and lay on it. Trace the scapula all the way around to get the tissue mobilized. make sure you're slow in the process and staying on areas that are particularly tender.
-foam roll/scrub out your lats and pec wall to alleviate IR force on the shoulder
-Put some banded bully variations into your weekly routine to train the strained tendons(you tube)
-start incorporating ways to increase internal rotation of the humorous so it doesn't pull your shoulder/scap forward unnecessarily

in the meantime, if it hurts, don't force the angle of the exercise. play around with bench angle and different degrees of scapular retraction to limit shear force on the shoulder.

you can overcome it with some due diligence. Check out Kelly Starrett. He's got complete protocols for this kind of stuff

interesting, maybe they just assumed its tendonitis because they didnt see anything else. MRI's are more often than not ordered for tendons and bursae

From my experience the X-ray doesn’t tell
Much of anything. You need the MRI to see it.

Mine is fucked. X-ray looked normal.
MRI says shoulder replacement.
Not repair, but replaced. Socket has rolled, calcified , bone spurts, and tons of arthritis.

Do you mean tendonitis? An x-ray will show hard material in your body such as bone and calcium. It does not show tendon quality unless it has calcium deposits. A good exam and history with a negative x-ray can give a pretty accurate diagnosis of tendonitis though without further imaging.

Like others have said above. Start with physical therapy and don't underestimate it. Its like bringing your car to the shop even though you know little bit and can work on your car at home. PT is looking for your weak link in your chain you're not seeing yourself. The shoulder is a balancing act and if you admit to avoiding rear delts

And an MRI is needed to show quality of soft tissue. But often you can even avoid this if you get better from PT alone. Keep us posted on how you do or if you have more questions.

Thanks my brother

Those shoulder replacements are no joke from what I hear

im actually in the field, your doctor ever advised steroid injections? Sometimes they do those under fluoroscopy so they can make sure it gets in the joint. Lots of people do a couple of those a year just to put off the whole replacement thing?

Yes that is what they are recommending.
Seems thought that is just for temporary pain relief. Im saving that for is it’s starts to get unbearable (again) so no injections yet.

Im not getting a replacement lol.
It’s not an option. I asked what it would gain me they said it is last resort for pain relief.

What’s worked good is slowly building it back up. It’s like my shoulder had a stroke and had to learn to work again.
Donnie Thompson videos , light weights to get it “unfrozen” bands etc. then able to do
Some real work after.
