was wondering how many of you guys get a spotter when and how often when you lift and how much percentage wise do yall think its helps build muscle, i just usaully dont bother to ask for one exept for on heavy presses witht the bar
i love to have a spotter if there is a buddy of mine handy..if not I press heavy anyway!!! Just gotta get myself worked up knowing its all you and nobody to help you..really sucks goin to failure on squats with no spotter btw
I train with my wife, she is my spotter when I need one. I like it because she helps me just enough when needed and never too much. I hate asking for a spot from somebody because you never know how they will spot you, if they will help too much or give you the wrong spot.
I work 95% of the time with no spotter, but certainly enjoy having one around if for nothing else, injury. I've seen it save more severe injury during pect tear. (not Mine)
Agree with these guys, for squats a spotter is great, but I don't use one for other lifts, even bench press, because I can just roll the bar down to my lap and then stand up if I fail under it.

Try rolling 455 down your lap and let me know how that works out. LOL. I work out alone. All lifts are done in a rack for saftey. Plus i have yet to find a reliable workout partner, or spot in my gym.

My thoghts exactly lol. I use a spotter due to paranoia of injury . I have ruptured both my right and left triceps while benching (going heavy for way to long without taking a break)The right one I had 405 on the bar and didnt have a spot Took a while (45 seconds probaly but felt like an hour) for someone to see I needed help .
Now that I been training alone I'll admit I miss my old training partner. He was a hell of a spotter. I used to ask a few bros in the gym to give me a hand but I found that some of them either didnt know how to correctly spot someone or they thought it was an invation to chat with me for the rest of my workout. I'm all about making friends....just after my workout.
i use a spotter on bench only. i lay out the rules before we start. dont touch the bar unless its stuck on my chest and im asking for help. that turns everyone into a good spotter.
