The Chinese National Day and Mid Autumn Festival holidays will be celebrated in China from 1 - 8 October 2009, and in Hong Kong from 1 – 3 October 2009. These public holidays are important festivals in the Chinese calendar.

Please note that the customs authorities will not clear shipments on 29 September, two days before the start of the holiday. Operations will resume as per usual after the celebrations.

US gov are expecting an influx of illegal packages through the 28th to 2nd of oct and have a policy of 100% inspections on all china packages. if you are about to order, hold off.

I've heard this as well, which sucks because I wanted my imported Wham CD from a concert they did back in 1985

because they know that they'll all be working over time to get orders our before they go on holiday for a week-2 weeks. so theres more volume of illegal products coming through your borders. more volume = more snags

I have never had a problem with Packages from China or even Mexico.. I heard I got lucky with My Mexico Guy and I heard from My cousin at Customs that China is one of the Safest and he knows what he is taking about.

I know 3 people who received packs from china today with no problems. Its impossible to open all packs, physically impossible with the amount of men they have. If anything it will just be more random openings. Still a good sign to wait a few weeks b/f ordering anything.

seems logical to me. especially if there's more volume because of this holiday, i'm sure they'll try to open 'more' but opening 'all' might be hard. but i'm no government worker, i have NO idea what's really going to happen. This is all just stabs in the dark!

That should be ok, they just check the DVD's to make sure they don't contain any porn. CD's should be ok.

volume triples or more for the days prior to a chinese holiday. what was likely just a reasonable increase in agents to deal with the influx seems have gotten spun into "operation search em all".

if anything risk is probably lower, even with greater inspections, because of the volume.

i still feel uneasy,,,even next week or next month,,,domino effect can turn into a snowballin effect

plus who knows if all this could have been a set up sort of so they leak it out, and inspect next week.

This is true. There is no way this happened for gear only. Im sure there are a lot of recs and other illegal items coming through which was their main concern.
